We’re riding through the town, close to the café where we are stopping for a bite to eat, when I spot the fucker we are hunting. He’s brazenly strutting around town, like he didn’t hit my woman and threaten my kids.

Without letting my brothers know, I turn my bike and follow the prick. I hear my brothers’ bikes behind me so I know they have my back without question. Slowly, I creep behind the guy as he walks and looks down at his phone from time to time.

He’s a scrawny little runt, just like his abusive arse of a brother was. Dressed in dirty jeans and a hoodie, he stops next to a pub to take a call. Now is my chance.

I stop my bike, park it behind a red van, and kill the engine, before climbing off and getting the bastard. The sooner he is gone, the more my family will relax and they can move on.

“Brother?” I hear Kink say, but my focus is on this guy. My blood heats up in my veins as I move closer to him.

“It’s the fucker who hit my woman,” is all I say.

I am within reach of the cunt, when he must sense something. He looks up, checking around him, until his gaze lands on me. Fear flashes in his wide eyes before he runs.

“Shit,” I call out as I chase after him.

He darts down an alleyway and I follow him, not caring about what I am running into. All I see is me ending the cunt; the blood draining from his body and the life from his eyes by my hands.

He keeps running, looking over his shoulder to see how far I am from him. Before I can speak, he spins around. I see the flash of silver before hearing a loud bang, before pain sears the top of my bicep.

“FUCK,” I bellow and come to a halt.

I know that if I run out of here with blood running down my arm, it will draw extra attention to us, and we do not want that shit on us.

“Fuck, brother, you’ve been hit,” Kink growls, checking my arm out.

“Yeah, and Elsie is going to be so fucking pissed.”

“He got away.” Woody comes back to us, breathless, the prospect at his side.

“He jumped onto a local bus. Too many witnesses.”

I nod to the guy who will make a great member of the club one day.

“Leave it for now. We regroup and come back to the area in a few days. Maybe we can track where the fuck Dyer is and take him out too. Do everyone a favour,” I growl.

When we get to our bikes, I pull out a cloth from my saddle bags and clean off as much blood as I can, so I can get to the club without incident and attention.

What I said was true. Elsie will be pissed that I got shot, but it will hurt her when she finds out who the fuck shot me. She will blame herself, because that is the type of person she is.

“I have text one of my contacts in the area a photo of this dickhead and he will let me know if he comes back,” Woody informs us.

“And by contact, you mean that hot piece who owns the café, right?” Kink teases our brother.

Woody growls but says nothing as he climbs onto his bike and starts the engine. I laugh at my brother and he winks before we follow suit, while the prospect gets into the club’s van and follows us home.

I am not looking forward to my woman’s reaction, but I am sure as fuck ready for some angry sex.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

ELSIE

Mixing the ingredients in the bowl, ready for me to make some cookies for everyone, I wait for Kane to return. He left to go on a run a few hours ago, so I decided to make some cookies for the kids and the members.

Ruthie and Ricky are outside with Dutch and Una, so I know they are safe. Being cooped up in the clubhouse can be overwhelming at times, especially when you are not used to it.

I appreciate everything the club is doing for us, keeping us safe and looking for Alan. It unsettled me seeing how angry he was when he came to my house that day and threatened me and the kids. I have seen him angry over the years, but that day he was livid. It was like he somehow knew that I knew what had happened to Nigel.

When I was told that he was dealt with, I wasn’t stupid in thinking they made him leave and move to a different part of England. They made him disappear for good. I am not one to condone violence, but some people just bring it on themselves.
