I nod and climb on behind him, my arms wrapping around his middle, and I relish in the feel of him with me. There was a time when I never thought I would see him again. Kissing his back, right over the skull that sits proudly on the back of his cut, his hand drops to my thigh and adds a gently reassuring squeeze.
My heart aches for Vanessa and her family. The club will handle what happens next, and I trust them to do it with respect, even though she hurt me for years. That is just how the club is.
Tightening my hold on my man, I sigh with tired contentment.
This is where I was always meant to be. All the chaos that my family caused me pushed me to find Jack and Dominic. To find the Rugged Skulls. To find a family who will love and support me.
As they say in the Rugged Skulls.
No one stands alone.
EPILOGUE
JACK
Lilith smiles at me from across the yard, where she sits with the Ol’ Ladies, my nephew perched on her lap, and fuck me, she looks good with a kid in her arms. One day I will plant my baby in her and give Dom a baby brother or sister.
It has been three weeks since we rescued her from her crazy ex. She is healing mentally from it all but is still having nightmares; she wakes up screaming her cousin’s name. When she got back to the clubhouse, Jodie checked her back and told her that she needed to rest, I took over her care.
The club handed Vanessa’s body over to the family with the help of the Sheriff’s department. They explained everything that Christopher did to both women.
Only Lilith’s dad reached out to her to check in. Her mother and sister fled to Italy, with Vanessa’s mom, to get away from prying eyes and the idle gossip. Pathetic, if you ask me. Lilith’s father has filed for divorce from his wife, saying that he could not believe that after everything my girl went through, she ran, not wanting to help their daughter.
“She looks good. How are the nightmares?” Pres asks.
“Still having them, but they don’t seem as bad,” I inform him.
We are all sitting around the firepit, every male member of the club, and I have to say, it feels fucking good to have the first generation of Rugged Skulls Fort Lauderdale charter and the second generation all sitting here.
“It will take time. She saw her cousin killed by the one she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with. You will help her through it, so will the club,” Opal adds, and the guys nod in agreement.
“Everyone remembers their first dead body. Give her time, she is strong,” Sarge says.
“All of our women are strong as fuck. Each of them has been through something, some worse than others, but they all came out on the right side, thank fuck,” Edge declares.
“Fuck yeah, they are, and so are our daughters,” Slade states, looking over to his woman, Ada, and his daughter Winnie.
“She is okay.” Jase takes his man’s hand, and Slade nods but drops his gaze from them.
A few days ago, Winnie had a health scare; her heart went into an irregular rhythm, and it scared the shit out of us. It turned out that she had a chest infection that put some stress on her heart.
“Dad.” I look to my right, seeing my son smiling up at me. “Can we do it now?” He is bouncing in his seat.
“Yeah, Son. Go fetch it.” He doesn’t need to be told twice, as he runs off to get what we need.
“About fucking time, brother,” Royal teases to my left.
“Yeah, I know.” I grin.
“DAD,” Dom calls as he walks toward my girl.
I push to my feet and walk with purpose across the grounds that lead me to the people I love. I can feel all of the men behindme. Looking over my shoulder, I see my father and brother closest, and my father winks.
“Lilith, can we speak to you?” Dom requests.
Tree takes Archer from her, and she stands, stepping to the both of us.
“Here.” He hands over an envelope before either can say anything.
