He digs in, closing his eyes and moaning when he takes his first bite. He looks at me, pointing to the plate while still chewing. “That is damn good.”
Pride swirls around my body, making my heart happy. It makes me so pleased and happy when people enjoy my cooking. Seeing someone’s face light up when they see one of my custom cakes or sugar sculptures, makes all the pain of training and the heartache of moving here worthwhile.
“Fuck, something smells good in here.”
I look over my shoulder, seeing Jack strolling into the kitchen, wearing nothing but gray sweatpants, hanging low on his hips. Without looking at his father, he comes to me, gripping the back of my neck, making me gasp. He takes advantage and kisses me, slipping his tongue into my mouth.
He kisses me hard, letting me know that he missed me.
“I really fucking hate waking up without you,” he murmurs against my lips, making me blush harder.
Jack’s focus is solely on me, and I get lost in his gaze as he keeps me against him. He makes me forget everything around me, showing me that he is my world.
“I didn’t want to wake you, so I came down here to get a head start on breakfast. Your mom does it all the time, so I thought I would help out,” I explain.
The smile that he gives me makes my heart swoon. Full white teeth, bright eyes, no longer sleepy, look down at me.
“Love that, baby.”
“You have a good one there, Son,” Magnum says, making me jump.
I had completely forgotten that he was there, which makes me blush when I see him wink at me.
Jack’s arms tighten around me, his smile widening even more, if that is possible, as he looks from his father back down to me.
“I know.”
It is all he says, and my heart falls completely over the edge for him.
CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
JACK
“I have nothing for you, brother. He has been at work, from what his log-in details have stated. He even made an arrest a few days ago,” Maverick fills me in on information regarding the prick of an ex.
Lilith has been living at the clubhouse, with Dom and me, for three weeks now, and she is getting cabin fever. Yeah, she goes to work but she wants to sleep in her own bed, and I can’t blame her for that.
“He is biding his time, thinking of some more shit to cause for Lilith and us,” I reply to him.
“No doubt, man.” He nods.
“Fuck, I wish we could just take him out, but he is too well guarded. Lilith’s family will cause problems for us if anything happens to him, putting the club in the spotlight for the police, maybe even the feds, if her mother has anything to do with it,” I say, shaking my head.
“He will slip up, brother, and we will catch him, or Cal will,” Mav states, believing his words.
“Did you know that Lilith went to her mother and told her that she thought that her ex was cheating on her, and her mom told her to grow up, that all men cheat? It is the way things are in their world?”
“You for real?” Maverick’s eyes are wide with shock.
“Yeah, man. For fucking real. I don’t see the point in being unfaithful. If you want to dip your dick in multiple women, then don’t commit to one single woman.”
“Fucking male ego at its finest, brother. Men and women both think they can get away with that shit, it is a challenge for them, then when they get caught, they play the victim. Seen it many times.”
“Yeah, I remember that one hunt we had to go on. The guy blamed his wife for his cheating, because she couldn’t have sex for six weeks after having their first child. Prick.”
“He was a joke. Thank fuck we got what she needed so she could divorce his ass.”
Sipping from my beer, I think over all the people we have helped since we started Rugged Hunters. Thinking about what they are doing now, and if they are still okay.
