“That’s just mean.”
“And you’re a raging bitch,” he says. “Seems fitting.”
She juts out her jaw in defiance and reaches between her legs to rub herself furiously. “Fine. I can get myself off.”
“Go for it,” he says and walks to the door. “Have fun.”
Something hits the back of the door as he shuts it behind him, but it makes Venom chuckle rather than anger him. That was kind of fun. She’s used to being the dominant one, but that won’t work here. And she’ll never fit into his world if she refuses to learn that lesson.
“It’s up to you now. Are you going to stick around or get kicked out?”
He hopes for the latter, but he can’t bring himself to call it off. He doesn’t trust himself right now.
Chapter Nine
Griffin’s Beach
Undertaker
Melanie walks up to Undertaker, surprising him when she sits down at the table he’s seated at. Church ended fifteen minutes ago, and he assumed she’d be locked away with Jace in his apartment by now after the three-day run he just returned from.
“Can I help you?” Undertaker asks when she just looks at him intently.
A smile spreads on her face. “You know that girl we helped with the whole party fiasco? Jamie?”
“Yeah…?”
“She’s sitting outside on the picnic table. Pretty sure she’s been crying, and I think she’s looking for you.”
Jumping up, he all but runs outside. He knows he probably looks like a gorilla from a nineties video game, but he doesn’t care. All he cares about is finding out who made Jamie cry and murdering the bastard for it.
“What’s wrong?” he asks as he spots her.
Jamie wipes her eyes and doesn’t look at him as he sits beside her. “I didn’t… I didn’t know where else to go. I can’t go home. My dad… and my stepmom… Oh God!”
He has no idea what’s going on, so he just rubs her back and waits for her to settle down enough to explain in a way he understands. “It’ll be okay.”
“I wish I’d never come here. Staying with my dad was a mistake.”
“Jamie, what happened?”
Wiping at her eyes again, she finally looks up at him. “When you guys took me to that party, it gave me a bit of a reputation. For the first time in my life, I was the cool chick. The girl who befriended a dangerous motorcycle club, and people from the party wanted to spend time with me.”
“Okay…”
“I went on a date tonight with a guy who was there that night. Things were going pretty well, and he didn’t seem to care that I’m bigger than him. He’s kind of short. I forced myself to ignore it, too, and he kissed me.”
The thought of her kissing some skinny guy with too small of a dick to properly please a woman makes him irrationally angry. “Did you not like the… kissing?”
“No, I liked it. He pushed for things to go further. Don’t get me wrong… I went into the night thinking that might be where it led, and I was more than okay with it. But he was going really fast, and he got a little aggressive. I just wanted him to slow down.”
“Did he—”
“No. I just asked him to slow down, and he… he laughed at me.”
“Helaughedat you?”
Jamie looks down at her hands in her lap, and he sees the glint from the tears hitting her arms. She seems embarrassed, and his mind races. Did he push her into something she wasn’t ready for? If so, whoever this man is, he’s dead.
