"I know, I'm sorry. But Emmy came home early, and well, I didn't want to prolong the walk of shame."
I tsk, narrowing my eyes. "It wouldn't have been a walk of shame, Bex. Don't ever think that." I straighten, suddenly remembering that Emmy could be here. "Where's my sister?"
She must see my concern. "She's not here. Stayed with Jake last night. They have brunch with Jake's mother on the island, so she won't be back for several hours."
"Ah, well, in that case, I'll stay for a donut."
She pops a hip and sticks her hand on her waist. "Excuse me, but who said you could eat one of my delectable delights?" I let out a loud laugh at her description and how territorial she is over her donuts.
"Think of it as my tip for being the sexiest donut delivery man you've ever seen." It's her turn to laugh and she just shakes her head and draws out the word, "Right."
We both take a few moments to enjoy the rings of sugary goodness before she catches me off guard.
"So, I have a bone to pick with you." Her mouth is full of a donut, and I love that she's comfortable enough to throw all those prep school, debutante manners out the window.
"Oh yeah, I've got a bone you can pick, anytime." I smirk. She rolls her eyes.
"What are you like sixteen?"
"You're talking to me right now, but you've got a mouth full of donut and some glaze on your cheek. I thought you were a lady." I shove the last of my third donut in my mouth. That one was covered in icing and fruity pebbles.
"Whatever, you know I'm no lady." I nod and she throws a no-force punch that connects with my shoulder. "Anyway, Emmy mentioned that you have a key to our apartment. Did that just happen to slip your mind the other night?"
I give her a sheepish grin. I run my hand over the back of my neck, ducking my head. "Yeah, I just wanted more time with you."
Her eyes narrow but I can tell she's fighting a smile.
"But I think we are even now. You didn't tell me goodbye, so an eye for an eye."
She snorts. "Yeah, not the same thing. But fine. We're even."
After cleaning up the sticky mess we made with the fresh donuts, we make it over to the couch. She flings her legs up and over mine as she relaxes.
"Sorry, but if you're going to be here on my lazy day, then you have to accommodate my laziness." I rub my hand over her cool, smooth lower calf.
"I'm fine with this. Actually, we need to talk, so you might as well be comfortable," I say while watching my fingers caress her leg.
"Is this about the elevator kisses and bedroom sex?"
I chuckle. "Sure is. What do you think about making the elevator kisses and bedroom sex a repeat?”
"Hmm," she says and rubs her chin in thought. "I need more details."
I tickle the bottom of her foot, and when she jerks it away with a laugh, I grab her leg to keep it put.
"What I'm saying is that I enjoyed the kisses and the sex too much to let them be a one-time thing. So, I think we need a repeat, at the very least a handful of times." I give her a sexy grin.
Her brows draw together, and she twists her lips to the side. Maybe I was misreading her, I thought she'd be on board for another hook-up. Her silence makes me twitchy. "Look, if you're not into it, I understand."
I move to get up, but she leans forward to stop me. "No, wait. I definitely want to repeat what happened the other night. But the thing is, Levi, I don't just want another hook-up. I want something more." She looks at me expectantly. When I don't say anything, she lays it out there. "I want a relationship, Levi."
"With me?" I touch my chest.
She laughs. "Yes, you twerp. You."
My eyebrows reach my forehead I'm sure, I wasn't expecting this. From what I know of adult Becca, she's a dater, never really one to settle down. I know I wasn't looking for a relationship, but after the past week, the kisses, the sex, and the time we've spent talking, I really like the idea of having her in my life in a more intimate way.
"Okay, let's do this." I smile at her.
