Nick grinned. They’d met on Courtney’s first story assignment. “She was my client—sort of. On a kayak trip.”
Courtney narrowed her brows. “No, you weremyclient. Sort of.”
Kira rolled her eyes. “You two were so cute that day. Anyway, that’s how Sam and I met, too—on the job.”
Gia considered that, nodding.
“Don’t encourage her, ladies. Gia is free to choose to ignore ‘Methand date someone else.”
Gia turned back to Tom and smiled facetiously. “Oh, Tom. You’re always looking out for me, aren’t you?”
“Don’t listen to him. He’s just jealous,” Kira said.
“I get that a lot,” Tom took a sip of his iced tea.
Nick laughed. “Tough crowd, man.”
Tom rolled his eyes but looked grateful. “Blow it up, brother.” Nick gave him a fist bump and they all went back to their meals.
