“Because you guys need to be on guard. I have no idea what they’re planning, but it’s not good. They know I don’t agree with them and won’t tell me anything. They just say that they’re going to ‘take care’ of things.”

“Merde,” Mattie curses.

“How do we know you’re telling the truth? Maybe they just sent you to mess with us.” Archie points out from next to Mattie.

“You don’t,” Brody shrugs, “but it’s in your best interest to stay alert.”

“Don’t tell us how to care for our omega,” Titus snarls, pushing me behind him once again and I roll my eyes.

“Thank you, Brody,” I tell him, peeking out from around Titus. “I still don’t know if I trust you, but if you’re being truthful, thank you.”

Brody gives us a grim nod before leaving, and the chests of my pack visibly deflate.

“Do you think he’s telling the truth?” Ollie asks as we continue back towards our car.

“I think that we were already being vigilant, so we’re already doing what he said.” Titus responds, pulling me close.

Hopefully the police will find the evidence they need soon and we can put this whole nightmare behind us.

CHAPTER FORTY-SIX

Pack Sheffield has been arrested on charges of breaking and entering, omega hate crimes, and omega harassment.

Good fucking riddance.

The second I got off the phone with the police, I ran to Titus, who was in his home office to tell him the news. He had just gotten off the phone with his guys telling him the same thing, as well as the little tidbit that since these crimes are omega related, they will not be eligible for bail. We may or may not have reenacted what Mattie and I did over his desk that night he had the conference call with China.

I’m getting slick just thinking about how he growled in my ear, “Any time I’m working and you want me to fuck you, you just come over and bend this pretty ass over my desk.”

Fucking alphas.

Telling the rest of the guys was like taking a dose of prozac or something, their joy and love and reassurance flooding the bond and making me feel like I’m walking on air.

Curling up on the couch in the living room, I take out my phone and send a text to the group chat I have with Hannah and Wren

A girls night outdoessound fun…before answering, I send a screenshot of my text convo with the girls to Titus.

The words “love you” get typed out, but I quickly erase them. I typed them on impulse, but I don’t want the first time I tell Titus that I love him to be in an off-handed way during text.

I switch back over to my group text.

Shaking my head at their antics, I settle in on the couch to take a nap before our late night. Right as I get in position, Simon walks in the front door, looking tired after his shift. I can practically feel his exhaustion through the bond like it’s my own, even though he does his best to shield it from us.

“Hey, sweetheart,” he comes over and kisses me on the head. “You doing okay?”

“Yes,” I smile at him, lifting up on my elbows to give him a kiss. “Just about to take a nap.”

He hums, looking thoughtful. “If I carry you up the stairs, do you want to take that nap in your nest together?”

Cuddly Simon is one of my favorite versions of Simon and I nod, making grabby hands at him. Chuckling, he scoops me up bridal style and carries me up the stairs, peppering little kisses on my face as we go, making me giggle.

I can’t believe this is my life now. Naps, cuddles and kisses for days. Now that the threat is over we can finally settle into our bond, and start living life again.

Hannah, Wren, and I all sit around a table at Tito’s, sipping two dollar margaritas because apparently, it’s ladies night. “I should really run up your tab more!” Hannah shouts to Wren over the music, who then throws her head back and laughs.

We might all be a little buzzed.
