“Sure.” He took a chip and bit into it. “This is pretty good.”
“It’s not the healthiest, but I love it.”
Aubrey snorted. “Since when do you eat healthy?”
“You’re starting to sound like Onyx. She was always hounding me about how badly I ate when she was my roommate before she got married.”
“Onyx takes eating healthy to a whole other level,” Aubrey said. “I’m not as bad.”
“No,” Sully agreed. “You’re not.”
Jackson could hardly focus on their conversation. He kept replaying Mason’s words in his mind. “Sully, what are you going to do if Mason comes around to bother you again?”
“I’m going to start taking my self-defense classes again,” Sully told him.
“That’s a start, but it may not be enough,” Jackson stated. He couldn’t help but worry. At least she had Aubrey there with her. He couldn’t deny the overwhelming need he felt to protect her.
And that was why Jackson felt the need to step in as much as he could.
