Suddenly, Frankston starts barking at the front door, and that’s when I hear the creak of the door opening.

Shit.

I quickly scramble out from between his legs.

Pierre curses. “I’m going to take care of this,” he says, getting up from his chair where I see his gray sweats tented. He rearranges himself before he rushes off to the powder room.

“Hey, Frankston, it’s good to see you too, buddy.” Felix’s voice echoes through the foyer. “Hey, brother, heard the good news.” I hear his footsteps as he heads toward me. I open the freezer and stick my head in it, hoping it will cool me down. “Issy, hi,” Felix calls out to me.

I slam the freezer door shut. “Hi, wasn’t expecting to see you.”

“Yeah, sorry about just barging in. I thought my brother was home alone and was going to take Frankston for a jog around Central Park, but he pushed it back because of a meeting. I ran into Marcus and Jordan, and they said that Bill’s agreed to all your terms and he’s now a free agent.”

“That’s right, he has,” I answer.

“Is he okay about that?” Felix asks, looking around the empty kitchen.

“I’m fucking ecstatic,” Pierre says, walking back into the kitchen. My eyes instantly falling to his dick which he seems tohave now gotten under control. He gives me an arched brow when he notices where I’m looking. I quickly turn back and busy myself. “He let me go, I’m free. We need to celebrate.”

“That’s great, man,” Felix says, hugging his brother. “But we can’t exactly go out to celebrate, no one knows you’re here.”

“That’s right.”

“I can host it here,” I tell him. The two brothers fall silent.

“You’d host it?” Felix questions me.

I shrug. “He’s living here, so it makes sense. I’m not doing anything as I have to get back to work, but if you guys want to organize it, then …”

“Oh, hell yeah, we can do that,” Felix says excitedly.

“You’re going to call Harper, aren’t you?”

Felix grins. “No. I was going to call Sam. Harper has a lot on her plate at the moment.”

“Fine, just text me the details, I’ve got to go.” With that, I disappear.

PIERRE

“Can’t believe you’re a free agent, man, this is fantastic news. I bet you feel relieved,” my brother asks.

I would have felt better if he hadn’t walked in on what was happening between Issy and me. Seeing her on her knees between my thighs did something to me. The way she was consoling me when I know it hurts her being around me, but she pushed her hurt aside because she could see I was on the verge of a panic attack. We had a moment. I think she would have let me kiss her if we were able to continue uninterrupted, and now, I can’t think of doing anything else. I also liked the way she eyed my dick when I got up and the way she searched it out when I came back in. Was there disappointment there when I was no longer hard for her? I mean, all she needs to do is say the word and I’ll be hard for her. Shit. My dick twitches at the thought of it.

“Yeah. I feel relieved. It was a tense conversation. Bill was gloating about how he was able to get Kitty and that she’s a gold digger, and I should be thanking him for taking her off my hands.”

My brother stares at me in shock. “He didn’t say that.”

I nod. “He sure did. It was mind-blowing the level of anger he has toward me. Like, he hates me.”

“You did nothing wrong.”

“Right? I don’t know what his problem is, but he is no longer my problem. Marcus is looking into options for me now that we have the go ahead. Fingers crossed I hear from The Mavericks soon,” I tell him.

“Harper and Issy had dinner with her dad last night and have asked him for a favor.”

“Issy and Harper?” I ask, surprised by this.
