“How do you know that’s what I’m thinking?” When I cock a brow, he adds, “Okay, fine. That’s what I was thinking. Sometimes it’s annoying you know me so well.”

“It’s not annoying. It’s awesome.”

Donovan sighs. “This is a lot very fast, babe. We got married, and then suddenly you’re bisexual and I’m humping you into orgasm.”

A laugh tumbles past my lips. “That’s one way of putting it.”

“That’s what we did.”

“I fucking loved it.”

“How are you not freaking out?”

I shrug. “You’ve been queer and I’ve been around queer people forever, so it’s no biggie. Am I a bit surprised I didn’t realize it sooner? Of course. And I’m confused because I thought it would be this equal-attraction thing, and I’m not sure that it is. But there’s no denying I can be attracted to men—I clearly am—and I really, reallyloved what we did.”

He nods. “Being queer is different for everyone. I can’t tell you what or how you should feel, especially since I’m not bi, but whatever you do feel, it’s valid, and I’m willing to talk about it if you need to.”

I get mushy inside. “Why are you so sweet?”

He rolls his eyes. “Why are you such a dork?”

“Life is more fun this way. Fuck, my ankle is killing me.”

He immediately sets his things aside, places another chair in front of me, and helps me prop it up. “Do you want your meds?”

I haven’t been taking many pain pills. I don’t like that stuff. “Nah, I’m good. I just…areyouokay with what we did?”

“Yes,” jumps out of his mouth rather quickly.

I grin.

“Asshole.” He flips me off, then sits again. “Earlier…you said next time. Do you want a next time?”

“Yes. Please. That’d be great.”

“I’m serious. This is big.”

“I’m serious too. We don’t have to, of course. I would never pressure you, and it won’t change things between us no matter what we decide. But I had fun. I’ve had a lot of sex, D, but none of it was like all my favorite things rolled into one, and that’s basically how what we did felt. I figure it’s because of how close we are and the excitement of being with a guy, but I’m down for continuing if you are. Plus, like I said, I want to explore this, and who better to do it with than you? We’re married, so it makes sense we would enjoy some of the benefits—other than medical coverage, I mean.”

Donovan snickers.

“It doesn’t have to mean anything we don’t want it to mean. We get to make the rules here. We can be best friends who get married and have sex if that’s what we want.”

“What if you decide you don’t want to do it anymore?”

“Then I tell you. That’s what makes this so good. We can be honest with each other, and it’s important that we are.”

“What if it messes up our friendship?” He looks away.

“Hey.” I hook my finger beneath his chin and turn his head my direction. “Impossible. Nothing could ever mess up how I feel about you, and I won’t let you change your mind about me.I’ll stalk you, tie you up, and give you all your favorite things until you change your mind.”

I manage to get another laugh out of him, and it makes me feel like a million bucks.

“You have to swear you’ll tell me if you’re not into it anymore, or if it’s too much, or if you’re worried about anything at all.”

“Deal.”

“Are you going to have sex with other people?”
