“Kenny...I’m gonna…”

His eyes shifted from my breasts to meet my gaze. I didn’t close my eyes or turn away when my orgasm crashed through me and it was the hottest thing I ever experienced until he came seconds later.

Kenny

I’ve missed wakingup with Penny in my arms. After we made love the second time, she was full of questions, but I was too exhausted to answer. I told her I would after a nap.

I looked around the dark room, unsure of how long I’d been asleep. My cell is in my pants pocket and there’s no clock in sight so I’ll just have to live in ignorance for now. It doesn’t really matter anyway. Neither one of us has anything to do until her game tomorrow evening...or is it later today? Either way, we have time to relax.

“What time is it?” Penny mumbled against my chest.

“I’m not sure.”

“Mmm.”

She snuggled closerand I kissed the top of her head. I should probably just let her

sleep, but I’ve got a ring burning a hole in my pocket. I slowly slid my arm out from under her and shifted out of the bed.

Walking into her tiny living room, I picked my pants off the floor and pulled the velvet box out of the pocket. When I bought this ring, I figured I’d plan some super-romantic night to propose. But at this point, I think it’s more important that I pop the question than it is to turn it into a whole event. I can always do something after the fact.

I walked back to the bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed. She opened her eyes and blinked me into focus.

“What are you doing?”

“Just looking at you.” I leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her lips. “I haven’t had the privilege of doing it in what seems like forever.”

The corner of her mouth curled up into an adorable smile.

“Sweet talker,” she said around a yawn.

Her eyes followed as I shifted to the floor and leaned my elbows against the mattress, tucking the ring box into the bunched up covers. This isn’t going to be the fanciest proposal, but at least I can get down on one knee.

“One of the reasons I fought my attraction to you in the beginning was because I knew you were different. I knew I’d lose myself in you in a way that would change me forever. And I was right. I fell so in love with you…”

I cleared my throat and blinked her back into focus. Her wide eyes met mine and I smiled. There’s so much I want to say, want her to know, but I think right now, I just have to ask the question.

Shifting the box from its hiding place, I opened the lid and her eyes rounded even more as they shifted from the ring and back to me. The sheet pooled around her waist when she scooted up into a sitting position. I kept my gaze locked on hers, trying to convey everything I’m thinking and feeling.

“Penny Montgomery, I love you more than anything or anyone else in this world. Will you marry me?”

Even though she was obviously expecting the question, she gasped and placed her hand over her mouth when I asked it. Her cheeks rose above her fingers with her wide smile as she nodded.

“Yes,” she said, her voice muffled. She removed her hand and said it again, louder and with more joy. “Yes.”

“Yes?”

“Yes!”

She lunged toward me and wrapped her arms around my neck. I caught her and returned her enthusiastic kiss. Before things could get too out of hand, I ended the kiss and pushed her back so she was sitting against the headboard.

I pulled the diamond from its cushion and held it up. Taking her hand in mine, I hovered the ring over the fourth finger of her left hand and smiled up at her. She nibbled at her bottom lip and watched as I slid it into place. The band fit perfectly and the stone looked brilliant on her long, slender finger.

“Oh Kenny…” She held her hand out and admired the ring. “It’s gorgeous.” Looking up at me, she said, “I don’t know what to say.”

“You said yes.” I shifted onto the bed and kissed her forehead. “I don’t need you to say any more than that.”
