I raised a brow at Khai’s sudden outburst. He was about as calm as I was most of the time. The control over his emotions was as sharp as his sword.

“I’ll charter a flight home. You and Sully stick with the plan and head back on your usual flight.”

“Why not wait until we get back? Why now?” Sully asked, as suspicious as I was.

The shift in mood and the sudden rush for Maverick to need help without alerting the family felt wrong.

“It isn’t for me to say.”

Khai left the room, packed his bag, and was off.

“What the fuck was that about?” Sully asked me.

“It’s not our business.”

“Aren’t you the least bit curious?”

“No.”

“Comeon. That’s got to be a little suspicious.”

“If they want us to know, they will tell us.”

Sully huffed, opened the fridge, pulled out a bottle of white wine, and poured himself a glass. “Well, I’ll tell you one thing. There better not be another betrayal. Sid nearly ruined our family.”

I said nothing as I left the kitchen and headed to the bathroom to clean up all the blood from my skin. As I did, I rehashed moments between Maverick and Khai that seemed off, but I couldn’t find any explanations or answers.

AssoonasIsaw Easton standing in line for his tea and cinnamon roll, my heartbeat jumped to dangerous levels. It was hard to focus on other orders while watching him and taking in his beauty. His dark blond hair didn’t have a strand out of place, and he wore a navy-blue suit with a crisp white button-up, paired with a pale blue tie.

God, he was so handsome.

And he was all mine.

It was still hard to believe.

As I took a customer’s order, I also prepared Easton’s.

When he finally stepped up to the counter, my smile was so broadit hurt.

“Hi,” I said.

“Hello, Thomas.”

“I missed you. Did you have a good trip?”

“It was productive. I’m eager to have you again.”

My face bloomed with heat. “Your order is on the way.”

“Thank you.”

He opened his wallet to pull out his credit card, but I held out my hand to stop him. “It’s on me.”

“I can pay.”

I chuckled. “Clearly. While I don’t have much to offer, I want to treat you.”

He put his wallet in his front pocket. “Thank you.”
