I made a face. “They want a whole building like this? How is that going to work?”

“It isn’t. They want the same concept for an adjunct floor so that adjunct professors have a place to meet students since they are transient and don’t have offices here.”

“That’s actually a great idea.”

Squeezing my hand, he smiled. “That’s what they said when I pitched it.”

I stared up at him. “I’m really proud of you.”

He licked his lips. “Come here. Check out the lab.”

I allowed him to pull me toward what looked to be a computer lab. Once we were inside the dimly lit room, he closed the door behind us.

“This is nice, too,” I commented. Letting go of his hand, I moved further into the space.

“Do you know what this used to be?” He sat on a desk at the front of the room. His smile grew as I shook my head. “This is the place you said was haunted.”

My jaw dropped as I looked around. “What?”

“I said the same thing. I don’t even remember it being in this spot.”

I marched over to him. “You brought me to a haunted room?”

He grabbed my shoulders. “I brought you here for two reasons. It’s our spot. When they took us on the tour yesterday, I thought about you the entire time. I can’t see the word tutor without you crossing my mind.”

I tilted my head. “I must have left an impact on you.”

“You did more than that.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah… hell yeah.” His hands slid over my shoulders and down my arms. “So, when you told me what you told me last night, I felt like this was the perfect place to…start over.”

“What do you mean?”

He pulled me between his open legs and then relocated his hands to my hips. “I heard what you said so I wanted a do-over.”

I inhaled slowly, shakily as I stared into his eyes. The way he was looking at me was causing my body to stir. “I don’t know what you mean,” I breathed.

“Can I show you how our last tutoring session should’ve gone?”

Wordlessly, I nodded.

His tongue ran from one corner of his mouth to the other before he rose to his feet. Walking me around the desk, he pulled out the chair and gestured for me to sit.

I did as I was instructed.

He walked to the door and peered out the window. After checking his watch, he turned around and headed back toward me.

“Hey, Aisha. I’m sorry I was running a little late for our tutoring session.”

I giggled. “Kwame…”

“I’m only five minutes late, but I hate to keep you waiting.” Not breaking character, he extended his hand to me and waited for me to shake it. “I promise I’ll make it up to you.”

Oh, so we’re really doing this,I realized as I stood and shook his hand.Okay. This could be fun.

“Hi, Kwame,” I said finally. “Apology accepted.”
