“I don’t know what we have planned today either,” I told them as I watched the grim faces of Eli and Kwame as they headed back toward us. “When Kwame asked me on thisdate,he didn’t say what time we’d be done. But I do know he said he was spending all day with me. The two of us.”

Her face darkened. “Do you really think he would pass up time with Kami for you? Seriously? I mean look at us and then look at you.”

I took a step forward. “I don’t really have to think about it. I know he passed last night, and he passed again today, so…” I lifted my shoulders. “It looks like hedidlook at you and then he looked at me.”

“Please!” Kim cackled just as the men walked up.

“Ready, Aisha?” Kwame asked, reaching out for me.

“Yes, I am,” I answered, allowing his arm to slip around me.

“Are you sure, K?” Eli asked as he stood between the two women.

“Oh, I’m very sure,” he confirmed, pulling me close. “I’ll talk to you later, man. Have fun.”

“Call me if you change your mind,” Eli noted as we started to walk off.

Kwame shook his head. “I won’t.”

With a glance at Kim and Kami, I smirked. “Hm. Passed again.”

I heard them grumbling and complaining as Kwame and I walked off.

“What was that about?” I wondered once we got into the rental car.

Kwame started the engine before he answered me. “Eli wants to use the car to go to see Super Casanova tonight.”

I nodded. “Oh… did you want to go with him?”

“Nah.” He navigated his way into traffic. “Like I told him, I’m good with my plans with you for the day.”

“What about the car?”

“I’m going to make sure he gets the car in time.” He licked his lips and glanced over to me. “It happens to line up with the plans I have for you so it’s all good.”

I bit my bottom lip to keep from smiling. “Oh, so what do you have planned?”

With a sneaky grin, he stepped on the gas. “It’s a surprise.”

We arrived at Hamilton University fifteen minutes later. There weren’t as many people on campus as I would’ve assumed.

“The summer semester hasn’t started yet,” Kwame said, seemingly reading my mind. “So, there’s not that many people on campus.”

“I see.” I scanned the grounds as we took the scenic route. “They are really doing a great job with the renovations.”

“HU just keeps getting better and better.” He pointed to a glass building I’d never seen before. “That is the new engineering building.”

“Wow! It’s beautiful.”

We slowed to a stop and got out. Kwame went on a fifteen-minute architecture lesson about the construction of that building and we didn’t even go in.

Oddly enough, I wasn’t bored.

There was something engaging about the way he described the construction, the concept of the design, and the sustainability of the materials used. At first, I just saw a beautiful building. But he allowed me to see it through his eyes and all the effort that goes into creating buildings—particularly unique shaped ones.
