“Go back to sleep,” another snapped.
My pulse stuttered as I jerked my gaze to the beasts at my back. In an instant, the past rushed back to me. My work…my sickness. The Wolves. The Wolves…
“Where the fuck am I?” I managed to shove upward, but I was stopped, and stood there, swaying. The massive midnight beast who'd come for me yesterday barred my every attempt to run.
Not that I could run have far.
“Home,” the Alpha snarled as he stepped to the side. “Your home.”
I glanced at the heavy wooden door behind him. “The fuck it is.”
He lowered his head, those seething eyes fixed on mine, daring me. “Think you can run, female?” He cast his gaze to my trembling knees. “You can barely stand.”
I winced at the words and forced my knees to lock. “Want to test that theory?”
He stilled, like for a second, he hadn’t expected me to bite back. Maybe that was what he did? Maybe they abducted women and brought them here. I looked around the empty cabin, searching for a hint anyone else was here. But there was nothing, not that I could see, anyway.
The Alpha bent his head toward me, those black nostrils flaring. I winced, and agony flared with the movement, making me whimper. Who the fuck was I kidding…I couldn’t run, I couldn’t do anything but stand there and bite back more whimpers.
“Sick.” The Alpha stepped closer. “Getting worse, too.”
“It’s just a b—” I didn’t get the rest of the word out as my knees buckled again.
I hit the floor hard, landing on my hands and knees.
“You need us,” the Alpha insisted as he loomed over me.
He was so close, his breath brushed my ear. I closed my eyes as that cool, slick tongue came again, licking my neck before he nuzzled my shirt. “Your pulse is too fast, too weak. Take your shirt off.”
I sucked in a deep breath, curling my fingers against the filthy floor. “Fuck…you.”
“You can,” he urged. “It’d ease the pain.”
My body clenched, fighting the waves of terror and pain. Sweat dribbled down my brow and fell into my eyes. I was burning up from the inside, on the edge of going into shock.
“Your shirt.”
I forgot he was there, forgot everything was there. I lifted my head and stared into those soulless eyes.
“You want to live?”
I flinched, fear making me pathetic and weak. “Will you kill me?”
“Don’t you think I would have if I wanted to?”
I sucked in another deep breath as panic pushed in. I didn’t have time to think as my pulse stuttered. One more minute…one more second, and I wouldn’t survive.
A whimper tore free as I rolled into a sit, drew back my arm, pulled it through the sleeve, and dragged the shirt over my head, leaving me in my bra. “There,” I whispered. “Do your worst, beast.”
“Beast.” He nuzzled the strap of my bra, then opened his jaw, hooked it with his fang, and dragged it down.
I reached for my breasts. I'd thought he wanted to scent my skin, somehow get closer to my stuttering heart. But when he moved to my hands, pushing them aside, I suddenly realized I was wrong. One lick and I closed my eyes. The feel of his tongue was cool, perfect, easing that fire. Another came at my side. The cold nose tickled me as the Alpha let out achuff, pushing my hand away.
“Take care of you,” the beast murmured.
His tongue licked the peak of my breast, sending lightning tearing through my body to hit between my thighs. I released a moan, low and guttural, as his nose pressed between my thighs and sniffed.
“No.” I thrashed my head from side to side.
