He rolled off me, curving his body around mine, one large arm draping around my waist.
I felt so small there. So safe.
“I am yours, Tamara. Always,” he whispered into my hair. “I claim you. You’re my one.”
I didn’t know what to say to that. What was the right response?
For all intents and purposes, we had not long met, but I knew him. Trusted him. Felt more alive with him than I ever had before.
Iwoke to darkness, my body aching all over, a combination of the trials of the night before and the exertions with Kavi. To say that I had never been fucked like that before was the understatement of a lifetime.
As if sensing that I was thinking about him, his arms tightened around me, drawing me hard against his chest. The fur of his legs tickled the backs of mine, and I suppressed a giggle.
“That’s going to take some getting used to,” I murmured, turning to look over my shoulder at him. The flames from the fire still lit the room and I could tell that he was smiling, his sharp teeth showing. His ear twitched and I turned further, reaching out and running my fingers over it.
“Stop that,” Kavi said, twitching more. Then a strange bark erupted from him, making me jump in surprise until I realized it was a laugh.
“The big bad monster is ticklish?” I asked playfully, arching an eyebrow as I let my fingers slip to his neck, then down his chest. He relaxed under my touch until I went for his armpit. He growled and pinned my hand between his arm and body, quickly releasing me when I squeaked in pain.
“Sorry,” he said, bringing my hand to his lips, pressing a kiss against each finger, then my palm. “I did not mean to hurt you.”
“I know.” I nodded. I sucked in a breath as the reality of the situation really sank in. After the most surreal night of my life, I was lying naked in a satyr’s bed. Trying to tickle him.
Nope. It did not compute. This was perhaps even weirder than falling into a labyrinth in the first place.
I bit my lip and gazed into his amber eyes. I’d thought them full of fire initially or rage. Hunger. And it turned out he had been hungry, just not in the way I’d imagined. There was so much warmth in his eyes now. Warmth that promised to wrap me up, to never let me go, to spend each moment of my life adoring me. And I said that because I sensed he was far older than I and would live long after I was dead.
“What do we do now?” The words came out as a whisper. I barely knew him and yet this felt so right. I didn’t think I could go back to the mundanity of my regular life. I did not want to be hit on by normal men or have regular conversations. I just wanted to be here with him. My family were assholes. I just wanted him to tell me I could stay. Because I would. In a heartbeat.
His lips curved into a smile, his fingers tracing down my spine to splay against my hip, pressing me closer again. I could feel him harden, ready for me. The ache in my core reminded me of every tremor of pleasure he’d drawn from me. I hooked a leg over his hip, letting his member trace my slit, moaning softly in pleasure.
“That wasn’t what I meant,” I said, tilting my body to feel more of him pressed there.
“You do not seem to be complaining.” His throaty laugh tickled my neck where he pressed his lips, grazed me with those sharp teeth. Nipped at me deliciously. Oh gods, but I wanted him again, as much as I could feel he wanted me.
“Roll over,” I said, trying to push him with my body. He was so heavy that I didn’t have a chance in hell without his cooperation.
Finally, he conceded, moving slightly so that his horns stuck off the edge of the bed and he could lie flat. I straddled him, but my knees didn’t touch the bed, so I had to switch tactics and plant my feet on either side of him.
From this angle he was huge, the expanse of his chest laid out in front of me, his long legs hanging off the other side of the bed. And that cock… I squirmed just thinking about having him inside me again.
Ribbed for my pleasure. How the fuck did I get so lucky?
Kavi’s body stiffened under me, and not in the good way. A preternatural chill flooded the room as he rolled me off him and stood, the fur on his legs bristling, the muscles in his arm rippling as he assumed a fighting stance.
Chapter Fourteen
Kavi
Nico.
My lip curled in a snarl as I turned to face the monster who owned The Nest. I slid my feet further apart to brace against whatever force he delivered. It was unlike him to come barging in unannounced.
“Kavi. I should have known she’d be here.” Nico’s dark skin blended into the shadows, the feathers of his wings rustling like whispers.
“I didn’t lure her, if that’s what you’re insinuating.” I sneered at him. This winged creature had been both my savior and my jailer in a sense. While he had purchased the lands around here, created The Nest, a haven for those like us, he’d also made sure that no monster who entered left again.
“So defensive.” Nico stalked closer to me, letting his wings drop so that they shrouded him, morphing into a thick cloak. His skin was still that sleek black of his original form, making him seem like he was one with the shadows.
