I may never know the answer to that last one, but none of it mattered as I came for a second time, my voice high and my eyes blurry as I convulsed on that tilted bed with no shame at all. Seconds later, Dom finally busted the nut he was keeping hostage, causing mine to prolong.

“We broke the damn bed,” I affirmed, in awe now that we really were leaning toward the floor.

Dom chuckled. “Maybe we should go for round two on the other side of the bed to make it even before we pack our bags.”

Although I laughed at his statement, and refused to ruin Gabriella’s guest bed any more than it already was, I let Dom drag me to the other side of the bed. Just as he’d thought, we broke the other side mid stroke, this time with him on top.

He fixed the bed and made it look good as new … just for us to realize we still had thirty minutes to spare before we had to get to the airport, and broke the bed a third time.

We needed to leave Gabriella some money because Dom couldn’t bring it back to life after that.

Chapter 8

DOMINIC

I’d returned to Rosewood Heights more times than I could count, yet arriving with Samara by my side felt special in a lot of ways. My phone service hadn’t been great in Cuba, but I hadn’t even wanted to check up on my family. For once, I had to realize that if I couldn’t be there to do wellness checks on everyone, that was okay. My family could function without me.

A part of me was sad to learn that fact, but another part of me was ready to fly back to Cuba instead of dealing with the baffled and confused looks my siblings were currently giving me.

“So the woman talking to Mom and Dad in the kitchen is Sam Stevens?” Ava asked. “The journalist who has been writing about our family.”

“Yes.”

“And she’s going to write about us again, only more positive this time, correct?” Hunter asked.

I nodded. “Yeah.”

Coop laughed. “She’s also the woman you’re dating?”

“I am. And before y’all ask, yes she is also who I was in Cuba with.”

Mav squinted his eyes and elbowed Coop in the shoulder. “I couldn’t place why he seems so different, but I guess this is what Dom looks like when he gets some bomb ass pussy.”

“Lord knows he needed that shit,” Coop added.

I pinched the bridge of my nose.

“Eww.” Ava flicked Maverick in the head before popping Coop in the shoulder. “I’m going to the kitchen to meet my soon to be sister-in-law.”

Although I was grateful that all my siblings happened to be back home at the same time, I hadn’t planned on having this conversation with all of them in person when I told my parents I was stopping by.

“Did y’all hear anything I said about Robert Lanson?” I asked my brothers.

“We did,” Hunter confirmed. “He’s involved in some illegal shit. You spoke to Dad the minute you got back from Cuba and had him fire Robert. And the Crowne family is handling shit to keep the Prescott name clean.”

“You’re also taking a step back from CSO,” Mav added. “Not that it has to do with Robert, but I wanted to bring it up because I think you’re long overdue for a break.”

I smiled. “Thanks, bruh. I’ll be working in the field a bit more and making sure the resorts and casinos under Prescott Holdings are up to security code, but I’ll step back into my role before the busy fall season and still come to Rosewood Heights when needed. I just won’t spend most my time here like normal.”

“You know it’s fine if it’s longer, right?” Mav asked. “You gotta take care of yourself sometimes.”

“I know, but I don’t want you missing me like that,” I teased.

“Miss what?” Mav asked. “You bossin’ us around and shit? Let me speak for everyone when I say, we’re glad you finally found a woman to remove the large stick up your ass.”

I shook my head. “How is it that you can go from supportive to an asshole in 2.5 seconds?”

Mav popped his collar. “What can I say? It’s a gift.”
