“And she seems just as passionate about it as you are.” Malakai nodded to Cordelia. “Are you in love?”
Was I?I almost thought about telling her when she’d been riding my dick in the strip club, but I didn’t think it was the right time.
With Cordelia, things between us just made sense. We didn’t have to talk everything out, yet, we understood certain things about each other regardless.
“Sorry to interrupt,” Avery stated. “But I wanted you to know that we’re stealing Cordelia for a bit. Tyler just landed and he has an Uber taking him to your parents’ B&B.”
“I didn’t know Tyler was coming,” I said. “Why isn’t he staying in the villas?”
“That’s my doing,” Serenity said as she approached. “We both figured we were already crashing your siblings’ trip, we didn’t want to impose on your hospitality, too.”
“Girl, you know me better than that. Why don’t you and Tyler share a villa here? My folks won’t care, and Malik and Micah can’t make it anyway.”
Serenity’s eyes lit up. “Would that really be okay?”
“Of course. You’re family.” She gave me a hug, and once again, I was reminded how disappointed I was in Carter. He and Serenity had been attached to the hip before he’d up and left us all in his wake.
I gave her props for even continuing her friendships with the rest of us considering he shattered her heart.
“Don’t worry,” Jordyn said. “We won’t corrupt your girlfriend.”
I laughed. “I’m not worried.” Although, that was only partially true. When Avery, Jordyn, Serenity, and Tyler got together, they always got involved in some mess.
CORDELIA
I was in love. And no, I wasn’t talking about Caden Madden, although I was pretty sure there was no turning off the way I felt about him. I was talking about this crazy group of women—and Tyler—who had currently kidnapped me and was driving us a couple hours out of town for some unexpected fun.
“Where are we going again?” I asked. I hadn’t even known them a full five hours, but I could already tell they were my kind of people. Each different in their own way, yet it just worked with them as friends.
“We’re going to this bar that Tyler has been dying to go back to since the last time we were in Arkansas,” Serenity answered.
“It’s a gay bar,” Jordyn announced. “So you better loosen that lace tonight.”
“Honey, you will love it,” Tyler claimed. “No better way to introduce someone new to our crazy little family than to take you on one of our excursions.”
“Even though we all still live in New York for the most part,” Avery said. “We do so much traveling for our jobs, we don’t all get to hang out like we used to.”
“And we love ditching the guys,” Jordyn added. “So they get some brotherly time together—”
“And we get to know all about how you and Caden got together,” Tyler interjected.
“Oh, wait, can we drink the smoothies while we hear the story?” Avery asked from the passenger seat.
“I don’t know, honey,” Tyler said. “Jordyn’s ass is already driving crazy out here. Maybe we should just down them when we get there.”
I looked between Tyler and Serenity. “Why can’t we have the smoothies now?”
Avery glanced over her shoulder. “You see? You heard the lady. She voted for smoothies! So, Ty, get those smoothies out of the cooler.”
Ty reached behind us in the last part of the SUV and passed around some green smoothies that tasted as delicious as they looked.
“Slow down,” Ty told me. “You didn’t even get the disclaimer before you dove in.”
I laughed. “Sorry. It just smelled too good not to try.”
"That's because I'm a badass bitch," Jordyn said. “Leave it to moi to concoct a marijuana smoothie that tastes and smells nothing like it should.”
I took another big sip. “What kind of smoothie is this?”
