“Quit calling me that.”
“All I’m sayin’ is that fucking her is better than them cows you keep in your barn. When was the last time you felt a real titty?”
“I’m taking a break from titties,” I muttered. “I need to focus on other shit I have going on.”
Crayson shook his head. “If you fuck her, you’ll be more productive.”
“We don’t even know if she’s married.”
“If she is, she shouldn’t have been looking at you like she was.”
My ears perked up. “For real? How was she looking at me?”
Crayson smacked his lips. “Look at yo’ thirsty ass. Just admit you want to fuck her.”
I was about to kick his ass out my house for some peace and quiet when Cordelia asked, “Is everything okay with you two?”
Malakai was already laughing, knowing us well enough to guess what was going on.
“We’re good,” I stated. “But, Cordelia, after my brothers leave, we can talk about our schedule over the next three days. I spoke with Lance Rose yesterday and told him that I would make sure I showed the rep my entire property before you head back.”
“Yes, Lance is my cousin so I’m well-informed,” she said. “Except, we don’t have to rush this process. We at Red Rose like to get an in-depth view of all of our potential clients’ businesses to make sure the relationship would be beneficial for both parties.”
“I understand,” I told her.
She nodded her head. “Great. Because you may have heard Lance wrong. I won’t be here three days. I’m staying in Cranberry Heights for three weeks.”
“Come again?” I asked, my voice higher than intended.
“I’ll be staying at the B&B in town for the next three weeks. So I’m all yours until then.”
My dick jumped even though his eager ass should have stayed still. I didn’t even want to look at Crayson to see the smug expression on his face. Three weeks was a long time to be around any woman and keep things platonic, let alone Cordelia.
“You’re so fucked,” he murmured.
“Shut the hell up,” I whispered back. As badly as I wanted to deny what Crayson was saying, he was right. Cordelia wasn’t just a woman who I’d wanted back in the day. She was a woman who, clearly, I wanted just as much now as I did back then. Her ring should have been warning me to steer clear of her in every way possible. Crazy thing was, it wasn’t doing shit.

CORDELIA
“I’m sorry, Cynthia, but I don’t understand. What’s the issue?” I’d been at the B&B for twenty minutes and was slowly losing hope of finding a room to stay in.
“We have a large corporate group staying here for a retreat,” she explained. “Then, we have a wedding party here for an entire week. And no one called from your company to schedule a room, so we’re fully booked like we always are during the spring.”
As she was explaining the situation for a second time, I took a moment to text Lance that reservations were never made. Unfortunately, he was no help and simply asked me to find another solution.
“Is there any other B&B or hotel in the area I can stay at?”
“Sorry, dear, but not for another twenty miles.”
“I’ll have to go on Airbnb then,” I sighed, already clicking on my app.
“No use, little lady,” an older gentleman said. “My granddaughter is in town and informed my wife and I that even rentals are booked, so she’s staying with us.”
“Hey, Stan, how are you today?” Cynthia asked.
“I’m doing just fine. Came by to see if your husband was around.”
