As I turn, I’m jerked back by my hair when I hear Wyck’s voice so close to my ear that I can feel his hot, peppermint-laced breath fan across me. “You seem to forget your place, Athens.” He says, licking the side of my face. “Gentlemen, you know where the door is. Find it and leave, you have fulfilled your duty.”

“Wyck! Let me go!” I shout, attempting to break away from him.

“Shouting won’t help you and clearly my hand won’t tame you, so I have something else in mind.”

“Ma’am, do you need-”

“I need you both to leave before I make you.” Wyck growls, and I’m instantly turned on. I chastise myself because that is so cliche. Girl creams her panties at the sound of hot guy’s liquid-sex-filled voice. I don’t want that to be me.

“I’m fine. Thanks for everything.” I call out from around the corner as Wyck drags me upstairs. “You’re hurting me.”

“Good, you don’t deserve to feel any pleasure from the stunt you just pulled.” He lets go of my hair when he reaches the top of the stairs. “Get your ass moving.” He smacks my ass, prompting me to start walking.

“You have a lot of nerve.”

“So do you. I helped your stuck-up ass move-in too, but did you have some lunch waiting for me? Fuck no. You made it for those two assholes that did nothing but eye fuck you the entire time they were here.”

“So? Did I do the same to them? No, I ignored you all after I gave directions on where I wanted my stuff placed.” I huff when he steps in front of me. “Where are you taking me, Wyck?”He looks at me like he either wants to deck me or kiss me. I haven’t decided.

“You’re going to your room, and you will stay there until I let you out. I bet you have a lot to do to get ready for class on Monday.” He says with a devilish grin on his face. That fucker knows all my teacher materials are still unpacked downstairs.

“You’re not my father, and you can’t make me stay in this room all night, it’s only five in the evening.” I squeal.

“I can do whatever the fuck I want, and right now, I don’t want you in my sight.” He opens my door, pushes me inside, and locks it from the outside.

Once I right myself, I start pounding on the door. “You can’t do this, Wyck! I have things to do.”Bang! Bang! Bang!

“Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to have some food sent up for you.” I hear him chuckling from the other side.

“You little prick!” I shout, but it’s no use, I can tell he is no longer standing at the door.

I can’t believe he just locked me in here like I’m the Rapunzel. Well, he’s not my knight in shining armor, so there’s that.

I should be mad for his actions, but I can’t say that I blame him. Looking around, I do need to put my things away and make this room feel more like my own.

I’ve never shared a room with a man before, our whole relationship we’ve both had busy lives, the quality time we spent together was amazing. However, I have a feeling this is gonna be on a whole new level.

Several hours later, I’m putting something on the tv when I hear the click of the lock on my door, and one of the staff members comes in and places a tray down on the table in my room.

“Here you are, Miss. Wyck said to deliver this to you.” She bows, and turns to leave. “Did you need anything else, Miss?”

“No, thank you.” She turns to leave when I say, “You don’t think he had this poisoned, do you?”

“Of course not, miss, Mister Wyck doesn’t usually prepare the food.” She laughs. “But he didcookthis dinner especially for you.” She winks, and exits my room. Huh, I wonder what she means.

Throwing down the remote, I make a beeline for the tray she just brought in. Something smells delicious and my stomach takes that as it’s cue to start rumbling.

Uncovering the plate, I see it’s my absolute favorite dish. A replica from last week’s dinner when I was pretty convinced he despised me. Pulling up a chair and sitting down, I inhale all the aromas coming from the plate he fixed me.

Wasting no time, I gobble down the food before it can get cold. “Ugh, I am too full. That food was positively amazing.”

“Glad you liked it.” Wyck says, and I damn near jump out my skin when I hear him speak.

“Wyck! You damn near gave me a heart attack.”

“If only it were that easy.” He chuckles as I process what he said.

“Did you just imply that you want me to have a heart attack?” He opens his mouth to speak, but I hold up my hand. “This was a nice gesture, if only it came from your heart. I’m done here and so are you. Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.”
