“Yes, Father.” Father, I’ll have to commit his face to memory and the fact that he called this guy his father.
“It’s time for you to show me what you can do.” He smiles down at the young man as he beams brightly like he just received a shiny new toy.
“It will be my pleasure to show you, Father.” He bows to the man.
“What are their names?” I will have some research to do when I get back.
“Galileo is the father and his son is Elrand.” She tells me.
I watch as Elrand walks over to the two Elves holding Rogan and grabs his face.
“You will watch your wife die by my hands.” He smiles at him. At the sight of his smile, I get a bad feeling from this guy.
He lets go of Rogan’s face and walks to the center of the room.
“Bring me his wife.” He puts emphasis on the ‘E’ as if her name leaves a bad taste in his mouth. Boy, how I wish I could take him.
“Trust me, my dear, his day will come.” Tempest whispers as a lone tear falls down her eye. I go over to her and reach out when I remember I can’t touch them. “It’s okay, darling. Thank you for wanting to comfort me.”
I see two more Elves step out, while holding a struggling Tempest.
“Leave my son alone, Galileo. He willnotbe a part of whatever you’re up to!” She growls, kicking and screaming as they toss her in front of Elrand.
“There, there now, hush all that nonsense. It will not save you nor the child. He will be ours no matter what.” He speaks, grabbing her around the neck. “I’m going to prove to my father what I am capable of. You will be my first example, then your husband will follow.” He smiles, and it sends chills right down my spine.
“Go ahead, I won’t beg for my life nor will I tell you where my son is.” She spits in his face and he backhands her.
“You little bitch!” He shouts, grabbing her head and looking directly in her eyes as his begins to glow orange, like hot, molten lava. “You’re going to pay for that.” He whispers as she begins to scream. I watch in horror as he melts her corneas down to just the white of her eyes. A few minutes pass by as her screams die down, he lets go of her and she falls to the ground. I see his lips move as a syringe appears in his hands, and he plunges it into her neck.
“You son of a bitch!” Rogan shouts, trying to free himself and make it over to his wife. “You’ll be the one to pay for that and when your day comes, you will get exactly what you deserve.
“Maybe I will, maybe I won’t, neither of you will live long enough to tell anybody what transpired here.” He picks Tempest up off the ground and tosses her over his shoulder. “Bring him along, wouldn’t want him to miss the grand finale.” He laughs.
“Tempest?” I’m getting a very bad feeling about what’s going to happen next.
“I’m sorry you have to witness this, but it is the only way for you to see what really happened to us.” She looks at me with sad eyes, and I feel a single tear roll down my cheek as I focus my attention back on the scene unfolding before me.
Elrand stops in front of a wall and drops Tempest down on the ground. She doesn’t cry out in pain, move or anything. It’s almost like she’s given up, but I know that’s because he drugged her with something.
“He wouldn’t have been able to do what he did if I wasn’t drugged.” She says as if she knew what I was thinking. “I was a very strong Water Elemental.”
“No way! I’m an Elemental, too.” I say, turning and looking up at her. A sense of happiness creeps up on me as we share a look between us, but it quickly disappears when I remember the fact that she’s dead. My thoughts are ripped from me as Elrand begins to speak.
“Father, now you shall witness what I have learned to do.” He announces before he starts. “Rogan, any last words for your wife?”
“Darling, I’m sorry I couldn’t do more. I’m sorry they felt the need to subdue us like this and not give us a fighting chance because they knew we would eliminate them upon arrival. Galileo, I’ll make a special trip to hell, just to kill you all over again and lock you in the deepest part where you shall never see the light of day again.” He sneers and my heart drops.
“How touching.” Elrand gushes, poking his lip out as if he’s really sad. He steps back as Tempest hangs, suspended in thin air as his lips begin to move, but I don’t hear any words coming out. The whites of his eyes turn black while his pupils turn orange, like molten lava again. His fists are balled at his sides until he picks them up, flips, and slowly opens them, bringing them to his lips. “See you in the next life.” He blows on them as fire passes from his lips to his hands and connects with Tempest’s body.
“Noooooo!” Rogan screams, breaking the hold the Elves had on him as he tries to charge Elrand as the flames continue to engulf Tempest’s body. She looks over in my direction as if she can see me, but doesn’t utter a single word as she burns alive.
Before Rogan could get to Tempest, Elrand turns his attention to him, and he’s thrown back as if he hit an imaginary force field. He lands on top of the table in the foyer with a loud boom, as Elrand begins walking over to him. There is no more life within Tempest’s eyes as I sit there, weeping for her.
I look up at her as she looks at herself, dead in the air, before she finally falls to the ground once more. She walks out of the room and I follow. I hear Rogan before I see him, because Elrand has began to torture him with his flames.
I make it there and I’m forced to watch as Elrand touches each of his wrists, and then his ankles, where the flames make handcuffs that scorch his skin. I see a poker stick materialize just like that syringe and I know he has some hidden talents that tell me I need to know more about.
“Now, are you going to tell me where to find your son?” He readies the stick by flicking his fingers as if it was a lighter and letting the tip of the stick pass over it.
