“I’m going.” He declares, moving away from me with his hands in the air like he’s surrendering.
“Thank you.” I giggle. Time to get to work.
Chapter Ten
Aryas
Watchinghermovearoundthe room, using her power to gather herbs like last time still has me in awe. I know she’s an Elemental, but I’m not sure what kind just yet. From the way her eyes change like that, I would say she’s a Light Elemental. Imagine that, Tiberius is mated to one of the very beings he kills, an Elemental. She’s a force to be reckoned with, I chuckle to myself.
When they both find out that I know about her and him, I’m gonna be in deep shit. Until that day comes, I’m going to enjoy the fuck out of her while I can, because once it comes out… They’ll both probably try to kill me.
I know I can’t stay with her as much as I’d like, because it would raise suspicion with The Ministry of Order. Not to mention with Tiberius as well. While she gets ready to make the connection, I’ll just sit here. I’ll close my eyes and see what I can see.
Pulling out a chair from her table in the center of the floor, I place it in the far corner of her basement. I flop down, close my eyes, and summon my powers to the surface.
Mere seconds later, I’m inside my head.
“Why have you come to us so quickly, my Lord?” Sibyl asks.
“Because I need answers about Juniper and what future we may have together.” I answer.
“Juniper? You know that is not her name… Why do you use it so?” I don’t hide the rolling of my eyes at the way she accuses me.
“Yes, I know that isn’t her name. What I want to know is why was her name given to The Messengers?”
“We had to do what needed to be done for you to find her.” She laughs. “While she already has a mate, she still needed to be claimed. Who better to do that than you?” She cackles, coming towards me.
“What’s so funny about toying with someone’s life?” I ask as my voice fills with venom.
“Nothing is funny about it, but what is funny is that when she finds out what’s been done… Neither one of you will be safe.” She cackles even louder than before. “I’m sorry, my Lord, but what’s done is done, and what had to be done is done.”
“So, that’s it? You can't give me more?” I ask, looking up into her hollow face with her missing eyes and barely there hair.
“You will both share her, but when the time comes, she will have to choose.” She whispers, grabbing a hold of my face. “Make sure she chooses the one that will help her be the greatest she can be.” She pushes my face away like I’m the scum of the Earth.
“Tell me how to make her chooseme!” I scream, grabbing her arm, attempting to pull her back towards me. Of course, it backfires.
“You dare put your hands on me, my Lord.” She shrieks. “Make no mistake, your title may be higher and more powerful that what I am, but I will take your life without a second glance.” She promises, getting in my face, spewing black sludge from her mouth.
“My apologies, Sibyl. This woman has my emotions turned inside out, and I don’t know how to handle that.” I confess.
“You are forgiven, my Lord, but don’t mistake me or her as being weaklings. Do you understand?” She swipes her hand along the side of my face. I should cringe, but she looks this way because of me, so I dare not turn away in disgust.
“I understand.” I say as a lone tear slips down the side of my cheek. I never show any emotions that will deem me weak, but Sibyl is more than just an Oracle, she is also my mother. We have long since given up formalities, but she refuses to address me by any name except my Lord.
“You are not weak, my Lord, show this world and the next that you are worthy of the title. Don’t let this woman cripple your senses and make you forget your purpose. Go, now, and listen to the news she brings for it is not all good and will change things.” She places two fingers to her lips, and then on mine. It’s her farewell to me, letting me know it’s time to go.
“Until next time, Sibyl.” I say against her fingers, grabbing them and pulling them a little closer. I place a gentle kiss on top of them and open my eyes.
Chapter Eleven
Tiberius
It’sbeenmorethantwo weeks since I’ve seen her, and I feel a certain hollowness in my chest. I don’t like this feeling, and I damn sure shouldn’t be feeling it for her. Nothing about this is right, and I’m at a loss. This has never happened to me before, and I need fucking answers.
“Nigel! Get your ass out here this instant!” I yell at the top of my lungs. He appears a minute later, and I know he’s still pissed with me.
“You rang?” He asks dryly, reminding me of the real Nigel from that tv show ‘The Nanny’ that I hear Humans ramble on about.
