“Why did you seduce me?” I growl in his face because I am so pissed, mad, and hurt that I could actually kill him.
“I didn’t mean to. My mother is an Oracle. She told me that I had to meet you in order for things to go as they did. I claimed you even though I knew that Tiberius is your true mate, but I didn’t and don’t care. I want you, too.” He confesses. I drop the light and sit up, keeping my eyes trained on him. He attempts to reach up and brush an imaginary strand of hair out of my face, but I catch his hand before he can touch me.
“What did you think would happen by following through with your mother’s predictions?”
“What did you think would happen when you let Galileo get a glimpse of you? Why do you think he sent Tiberius after you? Nobody has ever been able to get that close to them, let alone nearly kill them.”
“How do you know about that?”
“I know you haven’t forgotten that I’m a Seer. The Ministry of Order sent me to find you before Tiberius did in order to warn you.” I release his hand and get up off of him.
“Well, you all have done a lousy job. He fucked me instead of killing me, and I want to know why. Why can’t he see me, and why didn’t he kill me the first time he came to me after he killed my sister?”
“Who was your sister?”“She’s not my blood sister, but she is my Elemental sister. Her name is Astra, she was a Fire Elemental.” I say, pacing the floor. “Astra, get your ass here right mother fuckingnow!” I scream. I felt her die, and I’m pissed that she hasn’t come to find me yet.
“Moon, I don’t think you will find her here.” Tempest speaks up, completely forgetting she and Rogan were still here.
“Before we get into that, how the hell were you able to touch me and pull me out of there?”
“I have no idea. Maybe it’s because we are both Elementals and since the course was changed when they saw you, maybe I was allowed to touch you only to save you.” She answers by shrugging her shoulders.
“Who is Elrand?” Aryas asks.
All of a sudden, black smoke comes out of nowhere, filling up my kitchen from top to bottom. Then, something happens that nearly has me falling to the ground… It speaks.
“Something lurks in the shadows. He has been trained to harness the powers of every Fire Elemental he kills as well as some of the others. He is stronger now than he was before. Moon, you must die for this realm to live.” The voice speaks.
“Who are you?” I yell, conjuring my Eternal Light once more.
“I am Darkness where there is no light. I am Tiberius’s mother after his was taken from him, forcing him into this life.” She growls.
“Show yourself!” I scream.
“Foolish girl, what you see is what I am. Look closely and you may see something you do not like.” She laughs, and I shudder.
“Why wouldn’t you let him see me? Why didn’t he kill me the first night he came to me in my dreams?”
“Dreams? Those were no dreams, girl. Tiberius is special just like you, Aryas, and Laney. He made you believe those were only dreams to try and learn more about you. Along the way, he found that you were his mate, andthatcould cost us all.”
“Why would he make me think none of what we shared was real?” I whisper as I mull over the names she said. “Who is Laney?”
“She is another Fire Elemental you must not let Elrand, the one who lurks beyond my darkness, get a hold of. Her mother was an evil Witch that sold her to The Messengers of Chaos. Her father is also a Fire Elemental. He has no idea what she has become, but that is not my story to tell. You all must be prepared.” She says, sounding as cryptic as her message.
“Why are you helping us? Aren’t you one of the bad guys?” I say, accusing her.
“I’m on no one’s side, foolish girl. I only want what’s best for my son, and if I can helphimalong the way, then I shall do it.”
“Won’t you have to answer to someone for meddling?” I can’t help but ask, because let’s face it. She’s Darkness and with that comes evil, so how can she not be on someone’s side when she is literally the second most evil thing in the world?“You are correct to be wary of me, but fear not, I am not the one that will take your life. While it would give me great pleasure to do so, I can not.” She confesses, her voice filled with regret.
“Hey! I’m not bad.” I huff, folding my arms over my chest.
“No, you’re worse.” She sneers.
“Whatever!” I shout, growing aggravated by her. I should probably cool it because she could kill me before I even blink.
“Where is the girl?” Aryas asks.
“She is with Tiberius at a whore house out of state.”
