“Since I was ten.”
“Has he ever put his hands on you? Raped you? Abused you?”
“Yes.” Is the only answer she gives, and I know that he’s done all of the above.
“I wish I could bring him back just to murder him all over again.” I growl. “Before I take you away from here, there is something I must do.”
“Okay, lead the way.” She says, letting go of the fire that wants so desperately to burn everyone that’s ever wronged her. I know someone that will help her control it and use it to benefit her. The only thing is, I will have to find a way to conceal her from The Messengers. I’m beginning to think my hunches are correct, and I can no longer trust them.
They weren’t always like this, I think to myself. The ones before them were in favor of helping those that needed it, whether they were Human or not. I was trained to be an assassin and kill those that threatened to tear the world down. Now, I think I’m only taking out the ones that threaten to tear The Messengers apart.
“Earlier, you were bleeding when you got up from under the bed, why?” I didn’t forget about that and want to know what happened.
“It’s something they put inside all the Elementals, I assumed they had put one in me, it either tracks us or prevents us from using our powers.” Interesting. I’ll let it go for now.
Following the voices of drunken men and screaming women, I lead us back down the alley to the back entrance of the whore house. There are people hanging around outside, bottles of liquor littering the ground, and-
“What are you going to do?” Laney whispers behind me.
“I’m going to kill anyone that gets in my way.”“Your way of what?” When I don’t give her an answer, she keeps going. “So, you're going to kill the innocent ones, too?”
“Believe me, little girl, I can smell the stench of the dirty men that walk throughout this place just like I feel the evil rolling off of each and every one of them.” I snarl. “Hide or wait outside.” I order her.
“Why? Maybe I can help.” She yelps, when I turn around and look at her. “What’s wrong with your face?”
“Do what I said or you will be sorry.” I growl, baring my teeth to put some fear in her.
“You don’t scare me. You aren’t the scariest monster I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.” She huffs, walking behind the bar and ducking underneath a counter.
“Brat. She’s more of a brat than my Luna Nera.” I say, smiling as I think of the way she would have jumped my ass for treating Laney like this.
Now is not the time to think about her. It’s time for me to do what The Messengers trained me to do.
I walk into the center of the house as I feel all eyes on me. Nudging my head a little, I cancel the music and all conversation ceases to exist.
“Who is the Madam of this house?” I ask, looking around to see if I can spot her before she decides to speak up.
“Who wants to know?” A tall, thin, older woman says, coming down the stairs. She’s a Witch. Imagine that, a fucking Witch running this place. No wonder everything runs so smoothly here.
“I do.” I growl. I should kill her and everyone else in this place just for fun and to make a statement, leaving only one alive to spread the word of what’s coming for them.
“And who areyou?” She laughs, lighting up a cigarette and taking a long drag as she makes it down the stairs.
“Your worst, fucking nightmare.” Nodding my head in the direction of all the exit doors, I shut them. “Mater tenebrarum, veni ad me.” I call on her to aid me, because not only are there Humans here, there are more Paranormals. I don’t need her to kill them, because I am more than capable of doing it alone. I need her to keep the innocents in the shadows for me.
“What are you doing?” I hear the Witch yell as she looks around, noticing that I’m trapping them all inside. She starts an incantation of her own.
Moving my right hand across my mouth in a zipping motion, seals her mouth shut from trying to use her Witchcraft against me.
“You called for me, my son?”
“Yes, I am about to unleash affliction, and I need the innocent to be kept safe.”
“I am yours to command.” She says, releasing her shadows to do what I ask.
‘How can he do that?’ The Witch thinks, not knowing I can hear her thoughts.
“There are a lot of things I can do that nobody knows about.” I sneer, baring my fangs.
