Hours later, I finally have Penny to myself again. We all sat down and talked for a while and while Henry is clearly uncertain, he promised to accept it. That’s good enough for me and it made Penny happy and that’s all I really care about.

“You said some amazing things tonight,” she whispers, resting her chin on my chest.

I smile, dragging my thumb across her bottom lip. “I told the truth.”

She searches my eyes, resting her hand on my cheek. “You have my whole heart, Jace. I know that I can trust you with it.”

“Oh, baby girl,” I say, pulling her on top of me and pressing my lips to hers.

When we break the kiss, she rests her forehead against mine. “All the pain we caused each other was worth it because it brought us here. I found my great love.”

I wrap my fingers in her hair, searching her clear green eyes. “Never again. No more pain.”

She kisses me and I move my hands down, holding her tightly to me.

I never thought I’d live without the ache of wanting her, yet here we are. She’s right, the pain was worth it, but I’ll never allow it again.

We both suffered long enough.

Fantasies do come true. Penny Brown is proof of that.

The girl I’ve loved for most of my life. The girl who was forbidden and untouchable.

My best friend’s sister.

The fucking love of my life.
