“He had an affair.I heardher accusations. It was a long time ago though, right?”

Whizz nodded.“Yeah, before I was partof the club.”

“She’s a little older thanme?”

“Yeah.I don’t know how you’regoing to feel about this, but Prue would like to meet you.Shedoesn’t like me keeping you in my room.”He was rubbing the back ofhis head.

“I’m really sorry for kneeing youin the balls.”She’d spent most of the afternoon thinking about hislips.Lacey regretted lashing out like that.It probably didn’timprove Lash’s opinion of her.

“I deserved it.”

“Not really. You were onlyspeaking the truth.I shouldn’t have taken it out on you. It’s justhard.”She licked her lips as her mouth suddenly went dry.He keptstaring back at her, and she liked the way his gaze was on her.Sheheld the knot in her towel so she would stay covered. They’d neverbeen naked together. The irony of their relationship—they’d fuckedwithout a condom, and yet she didn’t have the first clue as to whathe looked like without his clothes on.

“I don’t want to keep you lockedup in my bedroom, nor do I want to keep fighting you.”Whizz gazeddown her body.

“If you want I can leave assoon as you’re happy.”

“You’re not goinganywhere,” Whizz said.

“What do youmean?”

She watched him grit his teeth. He didn’tlook happy about something.Lacey didn’t know if she wanted to findout what was upsetting him.Whizz always confused her.He took herwell-ordered mind and turned it on its axis. She didn’t know how tomake herself think clearly around him.

“You can’t go anywhere.Ihad a deal with Tiny that I’d claim you as mine. You leave one ofthe brothers could come after you.”

Tears filled her eyes, and she tilted herhead back not wanting them to spill.“So, I’m stuckhere.”

Lacey didn’t mind providing she waswith Whizz.

“I don’t want to keep you lockedin this room, but you’ve got to promise me you won’t try to run offor hurt anyone.”

“I wouldn’t hurtanyone,” sheprotested.

“I saw you with the knifeand Gonzalez. You’re capable of hurting people.”

“But I wouldn’t hurtanyone.I give you my word.”

He really didn’t know her.Gonzalez was the first man she’d ever killed. She hadn’t been theone to kill the men who attacked and raped her.Dalton, Danny, andthe rest of the Savage Brothershad killed the men. She’d learned tofight, to fire a gun, and to use a knife, yet she’d never attackedor murdered a man or woman.

“I won’t hurt anyone,” shesaidagain, instead of arguing her innocence.

“Okay.Tomorrow I won’t lock youin the room, but you’ve got to promise me now that you won’t try torun.”

“I won’t run or try to killanyone.”She looked down at the floor wondering if being killed wasa lot better than her sudden future.

“I’ll go and wait for ourfood.”

He walked out of the room without lockingthe door. She didn’t try to open it or to leave.Lacey didn’t wantto leave the club. There was nothing out there for her.She was allalone in the world. The only person she had was Whizz.Going towardhis wardrobe, she found one of his long shirts along with a pair ofboxer shorts.Sitting on his bed, she picked up the brush he’d leftfor her and started to brush her damp hair.

It wouldn’t be long before the bluehair dye faded.

She didn’t know what she’d dowhen herhairfinally went to her natural color.Dalton always dyed it for her.Pushing those thoughts aside along with the pain of Dalton’s words, she picked the remote up and started to flick through thechannels.

Staring down the length of herarm she saw the faded marks that werehidden by the ink she’d gotten to coverthe scars. The first and only attempt to take her own life had beena huge failure.Dalton stopped her from trying again. He stayed byher side. His warning was always at the forefront of her mindwhenever she wanted it to end. When she was alone she’d alwaysthink about taking her own life.Dalton deserved to be free of her,yet the thought of causing him to die always stopped her.Did hehave peace now that he was no longer with them?

You’ve got to stopthinking about him.

Her thoughtsabout Dalton were notproductive. He was gone, and thinking about him didn’t help hersituation.Whizz was right. They’d been a bunch of idiots to thinkthey could take their revenge in another MC’s territory. The Skullswere the real deal while the Savage Brothers were not.
