My dick jerks at the thought.
He kicks at the sheet and lets out a deep sigh. His arm slides above his head, his half-hooded eyes squinting at me.
“How long have you been sitting there staring at me?”
My mouth waters at the sight of his thick cock hanging between his tanned thighs, my mind unable to form a response at that second.
I scrub a hand down the front of my face, my skin prickling under his stare. Christ, is it possible to still feel the aftershocks, even hours later? Because his voice alone has them quaking my insides again.
Willing my mind to come up with some kind of snarky reply is useless. My brain is pretty sizzled from the booze and post-coital haze.
“Not long,” I finally say. “I needed coffee, and my choice of view was either you or the buildings across the street.”
The corner of his lip quirks. “So not much of a choice then.”
“Nope.”
Vince raises himself onto his elbows, his deep brown eyes narrowing. “How drunk were you last night?”
“Enough to come up here knowing Kim might be in here. But I didn’t care because I wanted an answer.” I place the mug on the table next to me and pad across the carpet toward the bed. “You going to give it to me?”
Vince shifts onto his side, every muscle rippling at his slow movement. “That sounds like a trick question.”
“If that’s where your mind takes you. I’m down.” I shrug, sinking onto the mattress next to him. “I know how I feel. Iknow what I want to do again. And again. But you already know that.”
I run my finger over the outline of his tattoo and he shudders, jerking away from me.
“Ticklish much?”
He grunts and covers the phoenix. “What about it?”
“If you didn’t want anyone to be tempted to touch it, then why’d you pick that spot?”
“It was the whole idea of the phoenix raising its massive wings and rising up again from the ashes. Seemed fitting to have him on the underside of my arm. I’d see him every time I stretched my arms over my head and feel empowered.” He flashes a sexy grin. “Something like that.”
“I get it.”
“Why’d you pick last night to come up here? You saw Kim all over me at the game. Not my choice, by the way. But you didn’t know that. I could have been fucking her. You gambled anyway.”
“I told you. I wanted an answer.”
“I need more.”
Now it’s my turn to grin. “I like the sound of that.”
“You know what I mean.”
I rake a hand through my hair. “That guy Bob cornered me before the game yesterday, and again at the bar last night. Said some shitty things. Doesn’t want me flying around in your airspace. Thinks it’ll be bad for you and your company.”
A look of anger shadows Vince’s face. “Seriously? He’s got no right to attack you. And that’s bullshit anyway. My company, my decisions.”
“But he thinks he does have a right. And he says that shit because he’s threatened. I’ve dealt with it plenty of times since coming out. The hate is awful, but it’s something I have to accept because not everyone loves my lifestyle. I chose to comeout because I want my life to be my own. That was my goal. I make the rules for myself. Nobody gets to do it for me.”
“Then why the hell would you waste your time with me when you don’t even know for sure how I feel?”
His words should sting a little, but the weight of his stare confirms that what I felt between us last night wasn’t just stemming from me being hammered and out of my mind with lust.
“We both know how you feel. You just can’t admit it.”
