“I can be however I feel like being.”
“Listen to me!” Her heart slammed in her chest, and she grabbed his arm. “Why can’t you see that you’re the only significant ex in my life?”
CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
His nostrils flared. Greedy possession flooded Phillip, and he couldn’t stay away. He gave her no warning, needing her kiss more than he needed to breathe.
Their lips crashed. She wrapped her arms around his neck. His hungry hands covered her body, searching to remap the curves he’d once known so well.
She pulled for more contact. Her mouth tasted of sweet desperation. Carnal need blinded them from anything but one another. Her hands tangled into his hair. Their racing breaths burned together. Every lick and nip brought them higher, closer together, in Montgomery’s hallway. Phillip didn’t care.
He pressed her to the wall and had never wished so hard to be inside a woman.
She broke from him, gasping. “We can’t here.”
“The hell we can’t,” he growled. His erection thickened, and his mind was numb.
“Upstairs.” Ashley clung to his biceps and then pushed from the wall. Her fingers grabbed his hand as she glanced over her shoulder. “Quietly.”
Excitement pounded in his chest. “Are you serious?”
“Are you coming with me?”
Hell yes he was. He lifted his chin, and she led the way to a dark staircase, then up until she opened a door.
“Do you know where—”
“Shush.” She pulled them into a room lit only by the sunlight casting through white curtains. “Never underestimate the secret rooms event planners can find in a pinch.”
The large space was relatively empty. He surveyed it, noting stacked chairs that lined one wall. Circular tabletops with their legs folded rested on top of one another in the corner. A random assortment of couches and chairs lined the wall nearest the windows. The room wasn’t the least bit romantic. But it was private, and they were alone.
Phillip closed the door and followed her in, meeting her halfway into the room when he grabbed her hips. She melted into his hold, wrapping her arms around his neck when he lifted her up.
“You got me here,” he whispered.
“I did.” Her legs wrapped around his hips. “Now that you’ve seen the tour of empty rental rooms, I suppose you’re ready to go back downstairs?”
“Ha.” His mouth covered hers, and she moaned into the kiss. Just like moments before, they were rabid again. He crossed the room to the row of furniture, stopping at the first couch and easing her down. His heart hammered. He kissed down her neck, sliding his hands along her sides as her hand caressed over the front of his pants.
If he’d stuck to his plan, he would’ve found a way to romance her before they fell into bed. There would be a fancy hotel room and room service with champagne. Anything she could possibly want.
“Don’t stop,” she whispered.
He was head over heels in love with her. Knowing that, his plan didn’t matter, and he gave them more of what they both craved. Slowly, he slid her skirt up her legs.
“Sexy,” he whispered. His hands trailed over the delicate lace of her underwear. “If I had known this was all you wore…” His finger feathered across the front of her panties.
“You’re teasing me.” Her chest heaved.
“I’m taking everything in.”
He explored without touching skin, watching her reactions with every stroke.
Phillip hooked his fingers in the top of the lace and eased it down her thighs. She unbuckled his pants and tugged at the waist of his boxer briefs.
This was makeup sex—from yesterday and from years before. He needed what she offered and removed the condom from his wallet, covered himself, and let her pull him close again. He rubbed against her slickness, kissing her deeply, until he could no longer wait. Their bodies came together, and Phillip pressed into her until he knew nothing but her heat.
They clutched one another. Their wild frenzy tempted him to lose control. But her eyes held his, and he held her, each thrust bringing her closer to climax. There was nothing more that he wanted to feel. Then she cried out, demanding that he never stop.
