“Prez, I could give a shit about her being a woman right now. I don’t want her in the clubhouse, but we can’t get her to the police until the storm calms down.” Mayhem is flipping a knife absently as he speaks, not taking his eyes off Charlotte.
“Lock her in the hall closet. Make sure she can’t break free and post a prospect at the door. They aren’t to talk to her. When she wakes up, make sure someone comes and gets me.” I turn to Cowboy and point at the hallway.
“How the fuck did she get in here?” I growled, wanting to pull my hair out.
“I’ll have GLitch check the cameras. I’m unsure how much footage we have of the power outages.” I nod and slump against the hallway wall.
“Fabien,” I turn to see Kai rushing towards us.
“She’s awake and asking for you.” I push off the wall and run for the stairwell.
I pass Skull on the way up.
“Give the girls a few before you barge in.” He slaps my arm and continues down.
I slow my pace and stop at the doorway icthing to go inside. Kai rubs my shoulders and kisses my neck.
“They’re okay.” I nod.
Hearing the words isn’t the same as seeing the truth.
Phones start beeping throughout the clubhouse again, and Kai sighs when he silences his.
“The last of the storm bands have cleared the area.” I grab the doorknob and turn it slowly.
“Good, that’s good.” I peek my head inside and see Phoebe cradling Leah on her chest.
They’re talking softly to each other, and then they kiss.
“Someone’s feeling better.” I elbow Kai behind me for interrupting them.
“In or out, guys. We aren’t giving the entire club a show.” Phoebe calls out, making me smile for the first time tonight.
“In, definitely in.” Kai pushes me and closes the door.
“You should be relaxing.” I walk to the edge of the bed and sit carefully.
“I was working on that, thanks.” Phoebe rolls her eyes at me as I reach up and hover my fingers over the stitches Skull put in her forehead.
Sue me for being worried. Phoebe doesn’t have a monopoly on that emotion.
“That’s going to leave a scar,” I mutter in disappointment.
She shouldn’t have to carry this with her for the rest of her life.
“It’ll give me character.” She shrugs and then groans.
“My ears are still buzzing,” She closes her eyes and shifts her head against Phoebe’s chest.
“Skull said she needs to rest and can’t be left alone. We have to wake her every few hours.” Phoebe strokes her hair as she speaks.
“I’ll take the first watch. You both rest.” Kai pulls a chair closer to the bed.
“We should make her more comfortable, don’t you think?” I point at the shirt Leah is wearing, which is mine and covered in her blood.
“Fuck, yes. Here, help me.” Phoebe sits up, bracing Leah’s weight, and we both carefully remove the t-shirt.
I toss it on the floor, and that’s when I notice she’s not wearing pants. Or underwear of any kind. Leaving her naked.
