Blue wanted nothing more than to burrow deeper into him and forget everything. If she could, she would climb into the pocket of his cut and stay in a safe cocoon.
“Come on.” He kissed the crown of her head. “Let’s get you in the shower.”
Gulping down her sobs, she nodded. That was a start. She stunk like the ass end of a hog. Her clothes were stiff. Washing the day off of her sounded like an excellent idea.
Mooky escorted her into the small bathroom connected to his bedroom and led her to the toilet. He didn’t have a tub or anything, just a shower stall big enough for only one person. After opening the frosted glass door, he turned the dial and got the water running.
Blue bent down to undo her shoes and was surprised to find him kneeling in front of her. Regarding him warily for a moment, she halted her movements. With a warm smile, he took both her hands in his and brought them to his lips.
Her heart swelled as warmth hugged her. His love for her reflected in his eyes and in his actions. How could she ever live without this?
Closing his eyes, Mooky placed soft kisses on each one of her knuckles.
“I’ll do it,” he said before focusing on the task of de-shoeing her.
New tears slid down her cheeks as her heart felt like it would explode from the love this man showed her. Her emotions warred within her. She knew he was bad for her. She had a laundry list of reasons they shouldn’t be together.
Yet there he was, carefully taking off her shoes and socks, lifting her shirt over her head, and undoing her bra. His tender care was like nothing she’d ever experienced.
She’d lost all sense. The world wasn’t fair. Why couldn’t she have this man?
After helping her out of her capris and her panties, he guided her to the shower stall. Still wearing his leather cut, with a body full of tattoos, this man was an intimidating sight. He had the attitude and bravado of the bad biker, but not with her.
Never with her.
He opened the door and reached in to test the temperature before stepping aside so she could get under the spray.
Closing her eyes, Blue tried to let the warm water rinse the basement away. Visions of Dylan’s dead eyes watching her on the ground flashed through her mind, and she winced. Her heart raced, and her breathing picked up. She didn’t want to think about him. Couldn’t she just enjoy her shower?
Snapping her eyes open, she found Mooky, cut-less and shirtless, outside the shower, squirting shampoo into his hand.
“Turn around,” he said in a gentle tone.
Nodding, she did as he’d asked and rested her hands flat against the tiled wall. The angry red marks on her wrists sent a fresh wave of memories through her mind. Dylan had tied her up and not in the fun way. Scrapes dotted her skin from where the plastic ties he’d used sliced into her flesh.
She gasped when she felt it. Fingers splayed into her hair. Using the tips, Mooky massaged the shampoo into her scalp.
Blue closed her eyes and took a deep breath. The scent of hibiscus wafted around her as the stain of what Dylan had done to her washed down the drain. She did her best to lean into the soothing feeling of Mooky bathing her.
Why couldn’t it always be like that?
CHAPTER 27
Mooky
Watching Dash and Ginger care for Blue broke Mooky’s heart. The bruise on the side of her face, all dark and angry, taunted him. He would give his left nut for five minutes alone with Holt.
No one fucked with an Odin’s Fury ol’ lady.
His eye twitched thinking about that guy walking around free as a bird while Blue suffered in that basement. He could practically see that asshole strutting like he did some shit. Oh, he did some shit all right, but not the kind he should be proud of. He’d signed his own death warrant. And Mittens would make sure that warrant was served.
Nothing else would be acceptable.
A bag hung from a pole with a clear tube connected to Blue’s hand. He’d overheard Ginger say it was IV fluids and some antibiotics. Dash did the white inhaler thing again.
“What’s that for?” Mooky asked from across the room.
How many more times would they need to use it? What the hell had Holt given her?
