Turning, she took a few steps and wondered if one of these doors had Mooky behind it. She hadn’t seen him since they’d arrived and were separated for processing.
She winced, recalling being stripped and bending over so they could search her. Her cheeks burned with the embarrassment.
Blue wasn’t shy. She loved her curvy, plus-sized body. The men of Odin’s Fury loved it too. She never second guessed going around their clubhouse topless. Hell, she’d walked around wearing only a thong that left very little to the imagination a few times.
But that had been her decision. None of what happened earlier had been on her terms.
Swallowing hard, she lifted her chin. She could survive this. She hadn’t done anything illegal. Okay, maybe some laws might have been broken. She shouldn’t have fucked Mooky on the side of the road. A kid could’ve seen.
Then again, what parent had their children out and awake at that hour?
Wait. What time was it?
It could be tomorrow for all she knew.
She’d been so lost in her own thoughts, she didn’t realize she’d been escorted to the rooms where she’d been stripped. Her heart stopped in her chest.
“Wait!” She paused her steps and the guard behind her bumped into her back.
“Move.”
“I did that already.” Fear gripped her neck and choked her.
She didn’t want to be naked again. She didn’t want to be gawked at or probed. Nope. They couldn’t make her.
“You’ve been bailed out.” He grumped and shoved her hard.
“What?”
Bailed out? Who would do that?
She hadn’t called anyone. She didn’t know who could, or would, help her. The only person she could even think of was Sarah, and what the hell would she do? She didn’t have any money.
Shaking his head, he led her into the room, where they uncuffed her and returned her clothing. Once they’d closed the door, she was alone to get dressed. She assumed they didn’t watch her. She’d told herself there weren’t cameras watching her. It’d be the only way she’d be able to sleep again.
Maybe.
She hoped.
Sitting at a desk, she signed papers about her arraignment. An expressionless, monotone man laid out the terms of her bail. The process went by in a flash. She barely had time to process everything before she was escorted out of the county jail.
The impeccably dressed lawyer she’d seen with Mooky all those weeks before stood there. Not who she had expected to see. The only person she thought could or would have bailed her out was Dash, but he’d had no idea she needed to be picked up.
How did this guy know?
Maybe he wasn’t there for her at all. Mooky was inside too. He was probably there to free him. That made way more sense. Whoever had bailed her out had to be in the bathroom or something.
The lawyer had a phone to his ear and waved in her direction.
Blue glanced over her shoulder at the door she’d just exited. It had closed behind her. No one else was there.
He definitely meant her.
Well, alright then.
“Great, thank you. No. I don’t think we’ll need that,” the lawyer said into his cell as he pointed to the papers in her hand.
“Oh.” Confused, Blue gave them to him.
