“Water is fine. I really don’t want to get wasted.”

Fuck.

How was she supposed to do this if she was the only one getting hammered? Blue didn’t mind having a drink or two alone at home, but out in public, especially in her current company… Honestly, she needed the liquid courage.

“Okay.” Blue turned and called out to Sarah. “Water and a Bud Light, please.”

“You don’t have to be nervous around me,” Ginger offered.

Anxiety climbed up Blue’s spine from being called out. “What?”

Blue tried to laugh her nervousness off but was pretty sure her chuckles came out shrill and unbelievable.

The other woman smiled. “I know you and Daniel used to mess around.”

“That’s his name? And he lets you call him that?” Blue couldn’t wrap her brain around this whole Daniel thing. Obviously, it was and he did. Stupid questions, but the tequila had loosened her tongue and screwed with her train of thought already.

Ginger laughed and nodded. “Yeah.”

“So, you don’t care that he and I used to…”

The ol’ lady lifted her shoulder. “Everyone has a past.”

Sarah came over and put a bottle of water in front of Ginger and the beer in front of Blue.

“You good?” She asked the two of them, but her gaze lingered on her friend longer.

“Yeah.” With a nod, Blue assured the bartender. Ginger dumbfounded Blue by how cavalier the ol’ lady behaved. This was not what ol’ ladies were supposed to do. How could she be cool with it?

Threesome.It made sense.

Sarah hesitated, seeming skeptical of the response, before she slowly sauntered back to the corner of the bar to flirt. Blue could feel the occasional glances her friend cast her way. No doubt she understood the tension which should be there. However, it seemed one-sided.

Ginger took a big sip from the water before she stared at the label. “People can’t change what they did before you met them.”

Blue nodded in agreement.Fair.

“Unless you know of a working Tardis or DeLorean…” Ginger shifted her focus to Blue. “You have to accept people did what they did. It’s what they do with you that matters. Daniel makes it a point to show me just how much I mean to him.”

More regret mixed with sadness. Blue had that with Mooky. He put her first every day. Well, except for the pesky truth about the wife thing. He may have omitted that, but he still made her feel like nothing mattered to him but her. Well, her and Odin’s Fury.

A vice tightened around her heart. Her stomach rolled, but she did her best to focus on the woman opposite her while the clubhouse buzzed around them, oblivious to Blue’s inner turmoil. If she wanted to stay connected to the club and keep her friends, this would be something she had to do. She needed to get used to this feeling.

The involuntary smile on Ginger’s face made her eyes sparkle. The ol’ lady’s free hand came up. She ran the tips of her fingers along her silver necklace, drawing Blue’s focus to it. It was an odd thing, plain and thick, but she wasn’t about to criticize the woman’s style.

“If that changes, I guess, I would have a reason to worry about what you two did in the past.”

Blue forced her attention upward and toward Ginger’s face. She caught the whimsical expression.

“But I mean, I’ve seen you and him together. I’ve watched you with Mooky too. As far as I can tell, you aren’t interested in Danielthat way. So.” She again lifted her shoulder in a half shrug.

Blue reached for the beer in front of her and took a giant gulp.

Wow! Blinking, she couldn’t believe the confidence radiating from the woman beside her. The security in her relationship was refreshing and inspirational. The other ol’ ladies could learn a thing or two.

She focused on the neck of the beer. “How do you do that? How do you not worry?”

“He doesn’t give me a reason to.”
