“Are you saying you don’t want us?” My twin fakes incredulity… or maybe it’s not fake.
“If that’s what you're hearing.” She shrugs.Fucking shrugs.
Zeph gasps. “If Oz were here, he’d spank you.”
“Well, Oz isn’t here, is he?”
Don’t worry, Princess. I’ve got a new tally going for you already. You’re up to three, now.Oz chimes in through the bond.
“Three? How?” Maddy screeches out before glaring at my brother and I like it's our fault.
Oz doesn’t respond and my brother and I just smile, knowing exactly what the new spankings are for.
“You were saying?” I tease.
“Fine. You can come with.” Maddy rolls her eyes. “They just got back to the palace, so we better go.”
“You know where they are?” Zeph tips his head like a golden retriever.
“I do now.” She shrugs. “I don’t know. It’s like the palace alerted me to their presence. I can sense everyone within the palace walls. All these new powers are going to take some getting used to,” she grumbles.
“You’re handling it extremely well, Sweetheart. When I got my healing power, I wanted to hide from the world. I didn’t want anyone to know what I could do. But you’re a natural, acclimating to each new thing thrown your way with grace I’ve only ever seen from your grandmother.”
She blushes at the compliment.
We’re going to have to work on that. My mate shouldexpectcompliments, not be embarrassed by them. I’m going to smother her with praise until she no longer flushes at a kind word thrown her way.
Without another word, she pops us out of her room to the hall outside Luc’s quarters.
Wonder what we’re doing here.
Reed and Georgym walk around the corner holding hands and I’m not at all surprised to see the mate mark running down Reed’s upper arm, poking out of his shirt sleeve.
Gregorym moves fast.Zeph chuckles in my head.
Yes, he does.I agree.
They’re adorable together, aren’t they?Maddy sighs dramatically.
Hey.We’readorable together, too. Zeph grumbles in our heads making Maddy’s lips twitch.
Georgym and Reed stop in front of us and joy radiates off the two of them like the sun.
“Did you know demons could mate with humans?” Reed smiles.
“I did,” Maddy chuckles. “My mother is a demon and my father is human, remember?”
“Oh. Yeah. I knew that.” He shrugs.
Maddy giggles. “Okay, Geo. You can leave now. Be in the main dining hall at six this evening for family dinner. No arguments, I’ve got him from here.”
Geogrym looks hesitant to leave his newly bonded mate, and I can’t blame him. Nothing could take me away from Maddy right now. But his queen gave him an order and he’s always been a good guard. Eventually he bows his head in acquiesce before kissing his mate goodbye.
Once Georgym is gone, Maddy sends us to Luc’s library. Reed squeals like a girl when he sees the rolling ladder.
Why does everyone have that reaction? It’s just a freaking ladder. Not everyone has magic or wings to get the books from the top shelf. It’s really not that big of a deal.
Reed looks at Maddy with wide eyes. “Can I?”
