I grimace. “Sounds like you have some experience.”
“You could say that. But you should absolutely get the dress. You look amazing. And maybe things will turn out better for you.”
I glance at Lav. “Well, I won’t be telling my best friend I’m in love with her so I’m off to a good start right?” I chuckle.
“True,” Desiree laughs. “Already looking better than me.”
“You know… If we really wanted to put these dresses to the test, we’d hit the town tonight. We can go to Vee,” Lav says.
“What’s Vee?”
“It’s this awesome nightclub in town, you’ll love it.”
“It’s theonlynightclub in town,” Desiree scoffs.
“Fine. It’s theonlynightclub. But even if it wasn’t, it has a dark, sexy atmosphere and the DJ plays the best songs to dance to. It’s the best place to find a hookup.”
“Didn’t know we were looking to hook up.” I roll my eyes.
“Umm, have youseenthis dress?” Lav throws her hands up looking at me like I’m dense. “Besides, it’s been…” She pauses trying to think back to the last time she got some. “Too long,” she finally settles on.
“Alright, fine. But no bringing guys back to the apartment. It’s much easier to do the walk of shame in the morning than to kick a guy out.”
“A woman after my own heart,” Desiree chuckles.
Chapter 6
Luca
“Ican’tbelieveI’mmissing a night with my son for this. Haven’t I been here long enough? Can I sneak out yet?” I grumble, tossing back the rest of my beer. Harkin was right when he said I’d rather spend my time with my son than at a stupid club. But Jett was right when he said I couldn’t miss this party, no matter how out of my comfort zone it is.
“Sneak, Boss? Isn’t that a littlechildishfor you?” Jett snarks as he throws my words back at me.
“Yes, yes it is. But I’m taking a page out of your book,” I smirk at him.
“Oh, buuurn,” Harkin taunts his brother.
“Why don’t you try a different page for tonight,” Jett jabs, “and instead loosen the fuck up. You’re not too old to get drunk and grind up on a pretty girl, are ya, Boss?”
“Fuck you, Evans.”
“When was the last time you got laid? Pleeease for the love of god, don’t tell me it was when you got Ann pregnant. I may die of blueballs for you,” Jett says.
“We are not talking about my love life.”
“You mean yourlackof a love life?” He arches his brow at me.
“You’re making it real hard for me not to punch you tonight, Jett.”
“You know that’s my goal in life. To see how much I can push you before you finally snap and kill me,” he smirks.
“I hate you.”
“I know! Now stop whining and drink up!” He shoves another beer bottle into my chest and I roll my eyes as I take it from him.
“Fine. I’ll stay. But just for an hour.”
“Two and I won’t drag your ass to the dance floor,” he counters with a smirk.
