“How bout misuse of magic for one? Coercion for another? Conspiracy? Oh, I know, how about murder? That enough for you?” I list off her charges as I march her out of her room, using my magic to float her down the stairs.

“House is clear. Just waiting to hear about the basement now. You have any trouble with that one?” Phil nods toward my prisoner.

“Nothin’ I couldn’t handle.”

“Ha! Of course not. The great West can handle anything!”

I smirk, about to respond when we hear a commotion downstairs.

“Call the morgue! We got a body!”

Ahh, guess they found James. “Hear that, Brit? They got a body. Now, I wonder who that could be...” I laugh as her face turns red, a vein popping out on her forehead.

Leading her out of the house, I smile when I see a crowd gathered. Flashes are going off all over and she’s shrieking and flailing around, fighting me as I wave at the cameras.

“Say hello to your adoring fans, Brit.”

“Why you! I’m gonna kill you!”

“Did you just threaten an agent? There’s another offense added to your rap sheet.” I shake my head, lips pressed together.

“What are you arresting her for?!”

“Britney, what’d you do?!”

“Is it true she killed her husband?!”

The mob shouts out questions as we pass. Stopping at the car, I turn to the cameras. “There will be a press conference at City Hall in an hour. Please save your questions for then. Thank you.”

I open the door and help her in. It’s a little awkward with her legs frozen together, but I manage okay. Closing the door, I clap the hood and step back as the driver takes off toward MIA headquarters. That went really well, I think. Can’t wait to see what all we find in her house. Lord knows how many other secrets she’s been hiding.

Chapter 35

Rowen

When Ayden told us we were going for a walk, we all looked at him like he was crazy, but he wouldn’t hear any arguments. So here we are walking around the neighborhood. We’ve been going in some random pattern and I have no clue where we are. We stop as we watch four black SUVs and a black van careen down the street, all screeching to a halt right in front of us. Before they even come to a complete stop, all the doors are flung open and men in black tactical gear jump out, rushing for the house.

“Hey, isn’t that-” Hudson starts.

“BB’s house? Yes, yes it is.” Ayden laughs maniacally.

“What’s going on?! Is that MIA?! What are they doing at BB’s house?!” I whip my head back and forth between the guys and the agents storming BB’s house.

“If I had to guess, I’d say arresting BB. I don’t know, Doll. Just got a text from West telling me I should go for a walk by her house. So here we are.” Ayden shrugs.

People must have been peeking out of their windows because more and more people come outside to watch the spectacle. It’s not long before news crews show up, setting up their cameras basically in BB’s yard. After a while we see someone carrying a handcuffed Britney out of the house. The agent looks right at us and smiles. That’s when I realize it’s West!

“Did you know West worked for MIA?!” I gape at Ayden.

“No, but it makes sense. That at least partially explains how he knows so much about everyone.”

I focus back on the scene unfolding before us. West stops just before putting Britney in the car and speaks to the reporters for the first time.

“There will be a press conference at City Hall in an hour. Please save your questions for then. Thank you.”

Once he closes the door on her, the car takes off. Wow. I can’t believe they really arrested her.

“Well, I don’t know about you, but I think this whole day calls for celebration!” Ayden cheers.
