“Alright then, what’s the plan? And it better not be stupid.” She raises her brow as she waits for one of us to respond.

Chapter 20

Kayden

“Right, well, the plan is for Hudson here, to ‘run into’ her wherever West finds her. Then, he’s going to apologize for kicking her out of the bakery and invite her back tomorrow for a free drink. Hopefully, that all goes to plan, and sheactuallycomes to the bakery tomorrow. He will then give her a special latte with one of my favorite spells in it.” Ayden smiles so big, he looks a little deranged.

“Oh no, do I even wanna ask what spell you’re putting in her drink?” Rowe has every reason to be suspicious. Ayden knows a lot of not nice spells, and of course, they’re all his favorite, so that doesn’t really narrow it down any.

“Why, the truth spell, of course!” he cheers.

“That’s actually a great idea,” she says with a mix of uncertainty and dare I say, pride?

“Thank you, Kitten, I thought it was a fantastic idea.” Nate winks at her.

“Of course, it would be your idea to spell her,” she playfully scolds him.

In response, Nate jumps out of his seat and grabs Rowen around her waist. She obviously wasn’t expecting that, evident by the squealing she’s doing as he spins her in the air.

“Put me down!” she cries through her laughter.

“Not until you apologize for thinking my plan was going to be stupid.” He nips at her neck as she hits and kicks at him, trying to get him to release her.

“Fine! I’m sorry!” She giggles, as he somehow manages to tickle her while licking up the column of her neck. “Nate! Stop it! We have company you know,” she reminds him we’re not alone, and it’s like a bucket of ice water.

He pulls back from her, but doesn’t let go. “Fine, but you’re sitting with me now,” he demands as he sits back down and settles her on his lap.

“Okay, so you’re gonna find her,” Rowe points at West. “Hudson’s gonna randomly run into her, and say what?” she asks Hud. “You really think she’s gonna buy some, I’m sorry I kicked you out, you were right, Rowe’s a slut, line?”

“Do you have a better idea?” he asks her.

“Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. When you see her, you have to play it cool. She won’t believe you if you start trashing me. Especially since we’ve all been seen together. Just because we haven’t seen her doesn’t mean she hasn’t seen us. Say that it’s not how you thought it would be. We’re still friends, but it turns out you just don’t really like me like that. Tell her you’ve been thinking about her a lot lately and were waiting for her to come back to the bakery. Say you missed her daily visits.” We all listen with rapt attention as Rowe lays out the new plan.

“West, do you know where she is? Or where she’s going to be in the next few hours?” she asks.

“She’s on her way home from her spa weekend. Apparently she needed to unwind. I’m sure being a bitch twenty-four seven is hard on the body,” he says sarcastically.

“How the hell do you evenknowthat?!” Nate exclaims as he holds Rowe’s waist. “Stay still, or you’re gonna get a spanking,” he warns her.

Apparently, Rowenwantsa spanking, because she wiggles her little ass on his lap again.

“Don’t test me, Kitten. You’re the one that told me to behave because we have company. Now that I know West here isn’t pining after you, I have no problem flipping you over and giving you the spanking you’re asking for,” Nate whispers in her ear and she groans in response. Nate just looks over at West, waiting for him to tell us how the fuck he knows this shit.

“I just know things, okay? Best not to question it too much,” he finally answers. If you want to call that an answer.

“Hey, Ayd, can you get my phone for me, please? I wanna text Q. She’s gonna flip when she finds out BB was behind this.”

“Do you think it’s a good idea to tell her right now? No offense, but I don’t think Quinn will be able to stay away from BB once she finds out, and we need her to drink the potion so we can find out what spell she used,” I point out.

“I’ll just tell her to come over and we can talk about it. She needs to know how serious shit is now. I’m not going to hide things from her.” She gives us all the evil eye.

I hold my hands up. “I’m not saying you should hide anything from her, Lovely. Just saying we need to make sure she doesn’t go postal and try to kill her before we get the info we need.”

“Ugh, fiiine. I’ll keep her on a leash, okay.” She rolls her eyes at me as she takes the phone from Ayden, and proceeds to text her best friend.

I noticed West sat up a little straighter when Rowe started talking about Quinn coming over. I wonder… could she be the girl he’s pining for? If so, how long has he been waiting for her to notice him? Well, he’s about to get his chance. Knowing Quinn, as soon as Rowe tells her she needs to talk to her, she’ll be right over. This should be interesting.

“Well, I guess Quinn’s coming over.” Rowe chuckles. “I tried to tell her it could wait until she got off, but she wasn’t having it.” She looks at West out of the corner of her eye, and I have my first clue that I’m on the right track.
