I chuckle at her inability to use words. Seems I wore her out. I lean back and pull out of her, keeping a hold of the condom at the base of my cock so it doesn’t slide off and make a mess. I quickly dispose of the condom and return with a wet washcloth and gently clean Rowen up. I throw the rag into the hamper and lay back down, pulling Rowe into me.

We’re still on top of my covers, so I conjure us a blanket to cover us up. Rowe snuggles up against me and I hold her tight.

“This is the best night of my life, Rowe. Thank you, for giving us a chance. I’ll make sure you don’t regret it.”

She sits up and looks down at me with a frown. “I could never regret you Kayden. I only regret not admitting my feelings sooner. But I don’t wanna live in the past. I want to enjoy the present with the five of you, and plan for a future with you,” she tells me with conviction, then leans over and kisses me tenderly.

I kiss her back, putting as much love as I can into it, then pull her back down to lay on me. “Let me have you like this for five more minutes and I’ll take us back.”

She just nods and wraps her arm around me.

Ican’t believe that fucker just did that. I mean, I really only have myself to blame. I’m the one that showed her we could even do that. Of course, that asshole brother of mine didn’t have to pop off with her like that. What if the kids saw that? We’d be in for a world of trouble if they found out they could do that. Hell, I doubt it’ll be long before Violet figures it out on her own, she’s so damn smart.

“Well, it’s a good thing the kids are so enraptured with the playhouse that we don’t have to worry about them seeing that. Hopefully, they come back before the kids come out for pizza.” Declan responds to my unspoken question.

“Would you be done with her in forty-five minutes?” Nate asks incredulously. “I know I sure as hell wouldn’t be.”

We all shake our heads at that. No way would we be done that fast. Hell, I probably wouldn’t bring her back at all, if it weren’t for Violet that is. So, at least I know Kayden will bring her back sometime tonight.

“So, since Rowen isn’t here, tell us more about this potion Hud. How bad is it?” Declan brings us back to the important conversation that no one wants to talk about because we’re all scared of what the outcome will be.

Hudson sucks in a deep breath and slowly lets it out. “I don’t know guys. I really don’t. Based on what we know now, with her saying he made her tea every night for about ten years... I can’t imagine that would be good.” He runs his hand through his hair in agitation. I can tell this whole thing is weighing on him, he looks like shit. “Like you said Dec, it’s never good to be spelled constantly. What she’s been through? It’s no wonder she has holes in her memory. I wondered how she could not remember us wanting to name our bakery Chocolate Cosmos, or her favorite soda. It makes a sad kind of sense now. I just hope to hell there’s no permanent damage.”

Fuck, me too. “How do we figure out who helped the piece of shit?” I ask angrily. No one immediately answers, so I look around and see everyone has a kind of hopeless expression on their face. “Don’t fucking look like that! We’ll figure out who did this to her and make them pay!” I snap at them.

“You’re damn right we will,” Nate growls. “Our priority right now though is making sure Rowe is okay. Then we’ll hunt this fucker down.”

“Wait... I think I know a way... maybe.” Hudson doesn’t sound so sure. “I’ve gotta ask Rowe when she gets home, but if she happens to have any of that tea he used to make her... maybe we get lucky and the potion is in the tea? If we can get our hands on the potion she was given, I can track down the bastard who did this to her,” he growls the last part and I see Nate and Declan’s eyes light with the hope I’m feeling.

“Yeah, but what are the chances we getthatlucky?” I groan.

“I know, but it’s our best hope right now,” Hudson sighs. “I’ll have to talk to my dad about other ways of finding this prick, but Nate’s right, right now our number one priority is Rowen. I’m gonna call Doc Johnston in the morning and find out when he can see Rowe. I’m gonna have to close the bakery to go with her, unless one of you can work it for me. I know Declan has school now so it’ll have to be you or one of the twins,” he points to Nate then me.

“I’ll do it. I’ve worked at the bakery before, it shouldn’t be a problem.” I volunteer. “You know I’ll do anything for Rowe. I wish I could go with her, but I know you’re the best person for the job. You’ll know all the right questions to ask.”

“Thanks, Ayden. I wish we could all go too, but I don’t want to overwhelm her. Just make sure everyone keeps their phone on and the volume up, I’ll keep everyone posted,” he assures us.

“Hey,” I turn to Declan, “I don’t remember if you told us yet, but school starts tomorrow, surely you know what grade you’re teaching right?”

He chuckles at that, “Yeah, I know what grade, but I haven’t gotten my student list yet. Guess they’re savin’ that as a surprise. I don’t know.” He shakes his head. “I didn’t wanna mention it yet because I didn’t wanna get anyone’s hopes up, but I’m teachin’ kindergarten this year,” he tells us.

“That’s great! That’s Violet’s grade, right?” I ask.

“Yeah, but I don’t know if she’s in my class or not, and I didn’t want her to get excited thinkin’ I was goin’ to be her teacher, and then I turn out not to be,” he reasons.

“Yeah, that’s probably a good idea. Who the hell is in charge of your schedule? I don’t understand why they’re keeping you so out of the loop this year.” I mutter.

“I wish I knew. Normally it’s Barbara, but she would never withhold information like this. I have to believe someone else is in charge for some reason this year. To be honest, I’m a little scared to find out,” he says.

“You know Britney’s little brat is the same age as Violet,” Nate kindly points out. “Wouldn’t surprise me if she had something to do with you not knowing your schedule. Bet she’s been working on getting her kid in your class.”

“Why would you say that Nate? I don’t need that kind of negativity in my life ya know,” Declan grumbles. “I’m very much aware that Britney’s evil offspring starts school this year, and Britney has been trying to get her in my class for over a year already. I’m sure with my luck, she’s managed to get some poor sap at the school to set that up for her, and now my life is going to be hell for the next nine months.”

We all laugh because he’s probably right. “Yeah, you have fun with that,” I taunt him. “Better you than me. I’ve gotten pretty lucky and have gotten the least of her attention. I’m sure that has something to do with me working in a dirty mechanics shop,” I chuckle. “I mean it can’t be because y’all are better looking than me that’s for sure.”
