Once luna fell into a deeper sleep, I eased her down on the couch, then sat across from her, watching and waiting. I was just debating whether or not I should cover her with one of the many blankets in the room when a vehicle came up the drive.

Taking a deep breath, I met the alphas at their front door, none too happy with four out of five of them—and River was close to snapping at the fifth one’s wolf. Even knowing he wouldn’t win that fight didn’t deter him, and I was holding him back by the slimmest thread.

“Where’s our girl?” Wyatt asked. “Is she okay?”

“She fell asleep on the couch about twenty minutes ago.”

“Ty—” Ash began, but I shook my head with a stern look, and he shut up.

Thank the Goddess for that. My calm was seriously cracked at the moment, which made it extra hard to control River, whose calm had cracked the second we saw her tear-stained face at the training center.

“You are my alphas, my brothers-in-law, and my friends, so all I’m going to say is, fix this and fix it fast.” I narrowed my eyes at each of them as River growled low in his throat. “And with the greatest respect, don’teverhurt my luna like this again.”

“Thank you for staying with her, Ty,” Mase said.

I gave him a nod before I shouldered past them and headed out to my vehicle, muttering to myself as I climbed in and started the engine.

Put dicky in mate, Ty-Ty,River yawned. Make feel better.

“Why don’t you go to sleep, buddy?” I encouraged my wolf, whose temper had evaporated the second we stepped out of the alpha house. “It’s been a long day.”

Otay.He curled up with his nose in his butt and his tail draped over his ears.Nighty night, Ty-Ty.

“Good night, buddy,” I said, glad at least one of us had come down from the adrenaline high enough to relax.

I myself was wound taut as a bowstring, and I knew my beta brothers felt the same. Anytime luna was threatened, whether it was physically, emotionally, or mentally, it immediately elevated us to combat mode. When we didn’t have anything to kill, it was harder to re-regulate ourselves, and we’d craved blood or death—or sex, as Riv had so rightly suggested—to bring us back to an even keel.

Well, Crew was practically back to normal when I linked him, so maybe Sara isn’t getting railed as hard as Maria, Ariel, and Angelo are,I smirked.I just hope my own mate can handle what I’m about to do to her.
