I pondered that as Alpha Quake apologized to Ash and assured him that he meant no disrespect.
Ha! I can definitely see them calling Wyatt Overlord or Begetter or Bank or something sarcastic,I smirked.
Maybe as their phone contacts, Garnet snorted, but Posy won't allow them to actually say that.
True. Maybe Pops then, like he used to call Alpha Shawn.
You could be Dad or Father, he suggested, but I shook my head.
Cole and Jay can be Dad and Father.Iwill be Papa, I declared.
The boys already tease you with Papa Bear, Garnet snickered,so I guess it's all good.
And I nodded, very comfortable with the idea of becoming Papa.
"Well, alphas," Alpha Quake said, "I can see this little lady is in good hands. I'll get her supplies out of my car, then, with your permission, I need to explore your pack. I think my mate is here! At least, my wolf went wild the second we crossed into your territory."
"Of course, and good luck to you," I said, raising my eyebrows in surprise. "Would you like a guide? Gamma Reuben is bringing Bridger here now. You can just swap places with our juvenile delinquent."
"That would be great! While we're talking, I hear that the new alpha at Green River is your brother-in-law. You think he'd be open to an alliance with Cold Moon? Our fathers had a non-aggression treaty, but I'd be happier with a promise of mutual aid rather than just an agreement to not attack each other."
"I'm sure he would," Ash told him. "He's working on repairing relationships with nearby packs and rebuilding the image his father destroyed."
"Then I'll contact him when I get home."
"While Ash minds the baby, I'll help you unload your car," I offered. "Rube's only ten minutes away now."
"I feel the Goddess' hand at work here." Alpha Quake shook his head as we trooped out to his SUV. "If not for the tragedy surrounding that pup, it would have been months before I could have made time to visit Five Fangs, and now I'm going to find my mate today!"
"I'm happy for you."
Then Ash linked me, wanting to know what was going on and who the pup was. I gave him a quick overview and asked him to keep the baby in his office until I had a chance to talk to Donahue.
Not a problem, Ash grinned smugly.I'll gladly take care of a baby over doing paperwork any day!
And I had to admit that, of all the excuses he'd ever used to get out of paperwork, that was a new one.
19: Ghosted
Bridger Donahue
Gamma Reuben grabbed me by the back of the neck and pushed me up the sidewalk toward the alpha offices. He didn't like me much, and I supposed I couldn't blame him. I got his little brother in trouble too many times to count.
Although, to be fair, Elijah was pretty damn good at coming up with trouble for us to get into all by himself.
As the gamma opened the front door and pushed me inside, a little ball of dread coated in panic formed in the pit of my stomach.
I hadn't been reprimanded by the alphas themselves since I got arrested by the human police in the spring. Who would have thought they'd get that upset about a kid setting a dumpster on fire behind the Burger King? But the Greenville Police apparently had nothing better to do, and I'd been charged with a bunch of stupid stuff and had to go to court over it.
The alphas had not been amused.
I myself was not amused when they sent Alpha Mason's dad, Royal Price, to court with me. They thought he looked more like a father figure than any of them, which I supposed was true, but that old fart was strict as hell! He even made me wear a freaking tie!
But I only got twenty-five hours of community service, so I guessed it was worth it.
Gamma Reuben led me to the first office on the left, and that ball of panicky dread bubbled up my throat in a gout of sour acid.
Shit! It had to be Alpha Ice! It couldn't have been Alpha Ash or Alpha Wyatt!
