"And what are you two doing in this class?" he asked. "Didn't the office contact you?"
"No," Bram said. "Why? And Yolanda's here, too. She's just notherehere right now."
"You three were the only ones to sign up for the AP version of this course, so it was canned. Come here and let's discuss your options." He hustled over to his desk, waving one hand for them to follow him. Then he stopped, looked at me over his shoulder, and bowed his head. "By your leave, your majesty."
"Carry on," I said gravely and nodded my head, imitating what I'd seen Queen Lilah do at tea with one of the waiters.
He chuckled and turned away, and I looked at Tyler, who was glaring at Elijah and Bridger. Those two stood against the wall with lowered heads. Thankfully, River was no longer present in Tyler's eyes, and I praised Lark for settling him down.
Peri and Dove helped, she shrugged, then curled up in a ball at the back of my mind.I no like school. I sleep.
Sure, wolfie. Have a good nap.
"You two sit far away from us," Tyler was hissing through gritted teeth, "and don't do anything to remind me you're alive."
"Yes, beta," Elijah and Bridger mumbled and slunk to the back of the classroom.
How lucky that no other humans came in yet, I linked Tyler and my other three friends.
By the grace of the Goddess were we saved, Bram snickered.
"Your majesty—" the teacher began.
I raised my left hand to stop him, and the light hit my engagement ring and made the diamonds sparkle like stars.
"It's Posy. Posy Black. Nice to meet you."
"Oh!Mrs. Posy Black!" he chuckled as he pointed to my ring. "It is nice to meet you. Wyatt is one of my favorite students!"
"Not your best?" I teased with a grin.
"No, that would have been Mason Price, who you probably know, since Wyatt calls him his brother."
"I do know him. Very well." I bit back a giggle. If only he knewhowwell!
"But Wyatt is definitely in my top ten of my all-time favorite students."
"You're not supposed to have favorites, Mr. Herron," Sophia pretend-scolded him.
"Says who?" Mr. Herron crossed his arms over his chest and looked down his nose at her. "I'm an adult. I can make my own decisions. So there!"
"Oh, yes, very adult," Bram rolled his eyes. "Anyway, lu— Posy, we are leaving you. We have to fill this time slot with another class."
"Ididoffer to let them stay and use the time as a study hall," Mr. Herron said with a sad face, ignoring the human students slowly filtering into his classroom, "but they turned me down flat."
"We already have a study hall during last period," Sophia explained. "We need to squeeze in another AP course if we can. One less to pay for at college, you know?"
I nodded, having no clue what she was talking about.
"Listen, you two," Mr. Herron shook his finger at them, "you each are already taking four AP classes and that is enough. I demand that you go register for something fun, like sculpture or photography or creative writing."
"Not creative writing!" I butted in before I stopped to think. "That was my most stressful class so far today! It's not going to be as fun as I thought it would."
"Do you have Mrs. Don't-know-how-to-play Gautier?" Mr. Herron smirked. "Good luck having fun inherclass!"
"Mr. Herron!" Sophia and Bram squawked, making some of the human students stare in our direction.
"What?" He shrugged. "It's true! You know it is. Now go calm Yola down and pry her out of the bathroom stall she's hiding in and sign up for afunclass. That's an order from your elder, so you better respect it."
