"Lift up for a second, baby," Wyatt said in her ear.

She reluctantly did, and he whipped the shirt down her front without letting his fingers stray to her skin.

"Why did he hurt you like that, Posy?" Mase’s voice was a low, dangerous rumble.

"I was bad. I had to be punished."

"How were you 'bad'?" Jay asked.

"I disrespected him," she whispered.

"Can you tell me how? What did disrespect look like to Kendall Briggs?" Cole spat the name.

"I told him no, then accidentally called him Father instead of alpha."

"He made you call him alpha?" I squeaked, then fumed when she nodded.

What a bastard! Goddess, I wish Garnet and Quartz hadn’t killed him! I want to rip his lungs out through his nose!

Stay calm, Mase said.We cannot make any progress with her if she's terrified of us.

I took in some deep breaths, but Cole was getting frustrated because she wouldn’t tell him what Alpha Briggs wanted her to do.

We know it was something awful, dude, Wyatt linked,so let it go and chill before you—

Too late.

Giving in to his temper, Cole rolled her onto her back and she panicked, bringing her arms up as a shield over her face. Idiot that he was, Cole grabbed her wrists and pinned them above her head. We could all hear her heart tripping hard and fast and knew he’d gonewaytoo far.

"Please don't make me tell, alpha," she whimpered, tears trickling down her cheeks.

"Calm down, Cole! You're scaring her," I hissed.

Mase was done with him. He grabbed him in a headlock, pulled him away, and dragged him over to the far corner of the room.

Posy squeezed Mr. Nibbles and kept her eyes on the bed.

Jay swept in and sat down next to her, and Wyatt and I kept our eye on him. If Quartz gained the upper hand, we’d have to tackle him quick.

"Shh. You're okay, sweetness. You don't have to tell us anything, okay? And don't call us alpha. We're your mates."

I think being near her is helping him control Q as much - if not more - than Cole and Mase pumping alpha power into him,Wyatt suggested, and I nodded.

"Cole's just upset," Jay went on in a soft, gentle voice. "He wouldn't hurt you. None of us would. He's worried about you. We all are."

"Oh, my Goddess!" shrieked Wyatt, making Posy flinch. "Granite says you don't know our names!"

How did we forget to introduce ourselves to her?

I smacked myself on the forehead, making Sid giggle.

#

Jayden

"We forgot to tell you our names?" Aghast, I dragged my palm down my face. "Jeez. We're lousy mates already. Sorry, love. I'm Jayden. Jayden Carson. I'm nineteen. My wolf's name is Quartz. I'm an avid reader. I try to read at least a book a week. I also like to play the guitar. Acoustic, not electric."

She studied my face and I wondered what she saw, this little mate of ours who held my whole heart in her fragile, broken fingers.
