"Mate!" he yelped.
"To whom? Not ... not allfiveof you?" the other one faltered.
Boss! Her eyes are opening!Topaz whispered.
Looking down, I watched as her eyelids flitted halfway up. Dark blue eyes slowly surveyed all of our faces, then her fragile, little body went limp in my arms - and all hell broke loose.
"What happened to our mate?" I hissed. "Why was that bastard hurting her?"
"And hasbeenhurting her?" Ash barked. "We can see just from her condition that she’s been beaten and starved and who knows what else. How long has this been going on?"
"Did youallowthis?" Wyatt demanded. "Because if you did, you’ll be joining your father in pieces on the floor in a minute!"
Calm down,Mase linked us. Losing your temper right now isn’t going to help our mate.
He’s right,Jay agreed.Get her somewhere safe, get the pack doctor here, make her comfortable.Thenlose your ever-loving tempers and kill everyone who had a hand in doing this to her.
Cutting my eyes over, I saw Quartz yanking Alpha Briggs’ guts out through his— Well, it wasn’t a pretty sight, and I grimaced before I looked back at the two guys glaring at us.
"I take it you two are James and Aiden Briggs?" I said through clenched teeth.
"Yes, and that is our baby sister, Posy. Now let me have her so I can get her to the pack doctor!" James snapped.
"We sent the beta to fetch him," Wyatt told him with narrowed eyes. "Did you abuse and torture her, too? My wolf may not be as brutal as Quartz, but he can tear your heart out just as fast."
"It’s a long story." The younger one, who hadn’t taken his eyes off our mate’s face since he came in the room, plowed a hand through his hair and sighed. "Follow me and we’ll get her settled in a bedroom upstairs, then we can talk."
Not liking or trusting these two an inch, we trailed after them simply to get our mate more comfortable and left Quartz to his fun and Garnet to make sure he didn’t kill anyone who didn’t deserve it.
Although I’m wondering if thereisanyone here who doesn’t deserve to die,I grumbled darkly.
Me, too, boss,Topaz paced around anxiously, very upset to see our mate’s condition. I'll kill them all myself!
Sounds good to me.

The pack doctor did what he could for our little mate, resetting her jaw and leaving a bottle of pain meds, then said her wolf could heal the rest when she woke up.
"Unless you want to mark her now, alphas. Then your wolves can heal her."
"We can’t force that on her," I murmured. "Not when it’s so obvious how much has been forced on her already."
"And it’sherdecision to allow us to do that," Mase added. "So long as her life isn’t in danger, we won’t take that from her."
"She’s not in danger of dying, but I won’t lie. She’s in bad shape. She is skeletal. I can’t even hazard a guess as to when she last ate. Try to get some soup or broth in her, even if she’s not fully awake. Nothing she has to chew, though. And let her sleep as much as she wants. That’s going to do the most good. Otherwise, I’ve done all I can short of re-breaking some of her bones to put them in casts."
"The. Hell. You. Will." Cole clenched his big hands in white-knuckled fists. "If she is stable for now, we’ll wait for her wolf or for her permission to mark her."
The doctor nodded and left.
I didn’t trust that damn beta one bit, but Mase alpha-commanded him to guard Posy while we went to the living room and talked with her brothers.
Well,interrogatedthem.
After a couple of hours of it, James held up one hand.
