"Ready for what, honey?" Cole’s tone was the softest I’d ever heard out of him.

"For you to reject me."

She said it so simply, so matter-of-factly, as if she had no hope or expectation that we’d keep her.

My heart is going through the wringer here, Jay mumbled, rubbing his chest.

Yeah, we all agreed.

"Why would we do that?" I asked with a frown. "We would never reject you or leave you."

"We love you already, princess," Ash told her.

Her eyes flew open and zipped around to each of our faces.

"What?" she whispered.

"You're stuck with us, sweetness, until we draw our last breath." Jay grinned down at her.

"You are the perfect mate for us." Cole sat on the bed next to her, but wisely didn't try to touch her, and her pretty blue eyes locked with his light green ones. "Your future is going to be a happy and bright one with us. For now, though, you need to rest. Close your eyes. We'll be here when you wake up."

She took that as an order and curled up in her nest of blankets and pillows. When she raised one hand to her broken jaw, Jay quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled it away. He generously shared the sensation of the mate sparks dancing up and down his skin where it touched hers, and we all sighed in bliss. If we wouldn’t have been so enraged and worried, it would have felt like heaven.

"No, sweetness. Don't touch. The pain meds will kick in soon."

He tucked her bunny into her arms, and she squeezed it against her chest and hid her face in it, making all of our hearts flip over at how adorable she was.

Her eyelids fluttered and Jay whispered, "Go to sleep."

And she did.

Hours later, we were sacked out around Posy’s bed when we heard little sniffles.

"Posy?" I asked as we all crowded around and stared down at her with wide eyes.

"Are you all right?" Cole asked. "Why are you crying? Do you need more pain meds?"

She shook her head.

Wolf!Sid yipped. Her wolf awake and talking to her!

"Did your wolf wake up?" I asked excitedly. "Sid says he can hear her now."

She nodded, then nodded again when Cole asked her if her wolf could heal her. We’d managed to get a cup of soup in her earlier, but not nearly enough to satisfy me, and I was determined to feed her another cup as soon as possible.

"What's wrong, little mate?" Wyatt sat down on her left side. "Your injuries seem to be better, but is there something your wolf can't fix or needs help with?"

She closed her eyes and bit her bottom lip, and Wyatt gently pried it out from under her teeth with his thumb.

"You can tell us anything," he promised her in a soft voice.

"My back," she whispered.

"Okay. Let's have a look."
