"I'm sorry, Posy." Ash patted my shoulder. "I didn't mean to scare you."

I nodded, but didn't take my face out of Mason's throat.

"You're okay," Mason whispered in my ear. "You're okay."

He rubbed one hand up and down my back while his other arm slid under my bum to support my weight. Then he walked around with me until I calmed down.

"I'm sorry," I murmured. "I don't know why I get so stupid sometimes."

"Oh, my little baby, you're not stupid. It's not stupid to be afraid of something."

I decided to agree to disagree with him on that one. Lifting my head, I laid my palms on either side of his face and stared into his serious gray eyes.

"Junia told the queen that you helped Ranger rescue her." I tilted my head with a tiny frown. "You sneaking into Tall Pines at night was not part of the plan you shared with me."

"I know, but we had reasons for not telling you." Mason dropped his forehead to mine. "Mostly, we didn't want you to worry. I wasn't in any real danger. Between us, Ranger, Gisela and I could have handled nearly anything short of a full-pack attack."

"Good. I'm glad you can take care of yourself. I'm proud of how dependable and responsible you are. I'm sure Ranger knew you had his back so he could concentrate on his mate."

"I don't know about that." Pink skated across his cheekbones.

Oh. He's not used to compliments. I need to remember to give him some more often.

"Well, I do." I smiled, then leaned in and kissed him.

He angled his head and slid his tongue along the seam of my lips until I opened up. As he deepened the kiss, his hands cupped my bum cheeks. He squeezed them, and a funny little noise slipped out, surprising me. Mason grinned against my mouth, though, so I figured the weird sound was okay.

After he broke away, he stared into my eyes with a bright smile that I returned.

"Posy, are you okay now?" Wyatt touched my elbow.

Tearing my eyes away from Mason's handsome face, I met Wyatt's sparkling blue eyes.

"I'm fine," I promised and held my arms out to him.

He looked at Mason, who gave him a short nod, then took me in his arms and cradled me against his heart.

"Did you do what you said you were going to do?" I stretched up to whisper in his ear.

"I did." He nodded and his eyes grew solemn. "Granite and I talked to Quartz, and I apologized to all my brothers."

A big smile breaking across my lips, I threw my arms around his shoulders.

"I'm so proud of you, my fifth star!" I squeaked and squeezed him hard.

"Be proud of me, too, Posy! I found Ariel's little sister!" Ash stood in a superhero pose - fists on his hips and chest puffed out. "I rescued her from the birdcage she was in."

"Good job, waffle!"

He grinned and brushed my hair behind my ears, then kissed my nose.

"Do you forgive me for scaring you earlier?" he asked.

"Of course. You didn't do it to be mean." Still wrapped around Wyatt, I leaned up and gave Ash a quick kiss.

"Are you okay with more than one of us touching you at a time?" Wyatt asked, shuffling me in his arms to a more comfortable position.

"Of course I am. You're all my mates. Jayden and Ash kissed me at the same time the morning that you marked me, and it nearly blew my mind!"
