"Of course you are! I love you! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you feel—"

"Relax, Posy. I'm only teasing," he laughed and rubbed his nose against mine. "But Iwouldlike a kiss, please, if you're okay with that."

Closing my eyes, I leaned in and touched my lips to his, and his gentle response was exactly what I'd expected from him. A little hum vibrated out of his throat, and I snuggled further into the muscled planes of his chest. When we broke apart, I opened my eyes and stared at him, overwhelmed by the love filling up every empty place inside me.

Sometimes, I still have trouble believing these gorgeous, sweet, strong men are mine.

"Jayden?" I whispered.

"Hmm?"

"Can I hear you play the guitar sometime?"

"Sure. Anytime."

"Do you sing, too?"

"Um, yeah, but I don't know how good I am," he chuckled.

"He's great, Posy," Cole told me. "He's being modest."

"He sings all the time," Mason added. "He's being shy because it'syou."

Pink streaked across Jayden's cheek bones, and my heart fluttered.

"Maybe someday you'll feel comfortable enough to sing something for me." I cradled his face in my hands and smiled. "But no pressure."

"How about a lullaby?" Wyatt suggested as he came out of the bathroom.

Looking at him over my shoulder, I saw his hair was slightly damp. Maybe he'd had a quick shower, too? He plopped back into his spot and cuddled up to my back, his arm going around my waist and shoving Jayden's down. Jayden didn't seem to mind, though, and squeezed my hip.

"It's been a long day for all of us, Ash is already out, and I'm beat." Wyatt paused to yawn. "Sing something soft and quiet, Jay."

"I don't know," he muttered.

Almost as if they planned it, the two of them snuggled in closer until I was sandwiched between them, but I wasn't uncomfortable. In fact, I liked being surrounded by their hard bodies and wrapped in their strong arms, their legs tangling up with mine and each other's. Wyatt's face was in the back of my neck, his warm breath tickling my ear, and Jayden's dragon eyes were inches away as he stared at me.

My own eyelids grew heavier as my muscles began to relax. Wyatt was right; it had been a long day, and tomorrow would be an even longer one.

"Good night, Posy. We love you," Wyatt whispered.

Then Jayden began to sing an achingly sweet song of simple notes and delicate lyrics. I tried to stay awake, wanting to listen to his mesmerizing voice, but the lure of sleep was too strong, and I drifted off into a dream about a joker and his queen.

3: Leaving Their Mark

After Jayden sang our mate to sleep, the rest soon followed her into dreamland. Everyone except Garnet, who would remain on guard until the patrol changed at midnight. Then he'd end his self-appointed vigil and sleep, too. It was his nightly routine ever since we'd all moved into the alpha house together.

I was in the mood to talk for once. Jayden wasn'tquiteasleep, but close enough that I didn't want to disturb him, so I spoke with Garnet for the first time in a while. Our lack of communication wasn't because we were on bad terms, but because he was as talkative as his human half, and I was...

Well, I was what I was.

Are you happy, Garnet?

It took him a minute, but he responded.

More than I thought possible.
