"Which one of you is Tristan?" he snarled.
Everyone else stayed on the porch with me as Tristan went down the steps and confidently approached with his hand held out. The guy studied him with narrowed eyes for a moment before shaking his hand.
"Angelo del Vecchio."
"Beta Tristan Harrington."
"Take good care of mypiccola uccella azzurra(little bluebird), Harrington, or you're dead."
"Of course." Tristan nodded gravely. "Can I kiss her goodbye?"
"The hell you askingmefor?" Angelo snorted. "Going by the mark on her neck, I'd say you've done a lot more than kiss her."
Luke, Crew and Matthew laughed and Lilah and I giggled.
Then the passenger door opened, and Ariel jumped out, ran around, and flung herself in Tristan's arms. While they were smooching, Zayne and Zayden opened the back door and climbed inside.
Even from my spot on the porch, I could see Angelo was getting impatient and, knowing the cause, I wanted them to get on the road as soon as possible.
"I'm Luna Posy Briggs of Five Fangs," I called and waved my arm. "You can meet the rest of us later. Now go find Beatrix!"
His gray-green eyes, sharp as razors, studied my face for a moment, then he nodded.
"We'll be back," he promised, then rolled up his window.
Tristan kissed Ariel one more time. Then she dove in the vehicle and it zoomed off, leaving a tremendous cloud of dust in its wake.
"Whew!" Crew choked and gagged. "I know the alphas are against disturbing nature more than necessary, but they really need to get this mess paved."
I knew he was trying to be funny, but he was right. Everyone's vehicles, including my mates', were covered with dirt.
"Hey, I have an idea," I said as Tristan joined us. "Let's wash the cars."
"Luna, that's a lot of work," Matthew groaned. "The alphas should have parked in the garage instead of out here, anyway, so it's their own fault. And the rest of us can just take our vehicles through the car wash."
"But playing with water on a hot day is a great way to cool off. Buckets and hoses and sponges! It'll be fun!"
I smiled widely, showing my dimples, and the betas groaned while Luke laughed.
"I think so, too." At least Queen Lilah was on my side. "Let's change into some old t-shirts and shorts, Posy. Will you guys get the hoses and buckets set up, please?"
"Of course, your majesty," came three resigned sighs and one cheerful chuckle.
Giggling, the queen and I went back in the house to change.

"Okay, boys." The king sat on the end of the motel bed, dangling his hands between his knees. "Wyatt, you stay human and search the alpha house. Hopefully, you'll find Gamma Reuben or Ariel's sister or, Goddess willing, both."
"Why me?" Wyatt whined.
"Because you're the baaaay-beee," Ash teased him, "and have the least experience."
"You're like three months older than me, dickhead!" He swatted at Ash, who danced out of the way. "And how can I gain experience if I'm constantly sidelined for having no experience?"
"He has a point," I admitted with a nod.
