Before she could slither off Wyatt, though, Mase looped an arm around her waist and hauled her to the other side of the bed.

"Allow me," he said.

Scooping her up, he carried her into her bathroom.

Wyatt, Ash, Cole, and I looked at each other for a second, then a mini brawl broke out as we all raced forourbathroom. Ash squeaked in ahead of us, closed the door, and locked it, leaving the three of us to grumble about the inconvenience of using a guest room for yet another cold shower.

4: Topic Five

Mason

"Okay, baby," I said, "where's your clipboard? We're ready to hear number five."

We sat around the table after breakfast, just hanging out until the king and his crew and our betas arrived, and I wanted to clear up any and all things that were bothering her before we left.

Just in case.

Don't be morbid, Garnet chided me.Even if the whole pack attacks, we'd have no trouble destroying them.

I'm not worried aboutusdying,I said with a frown. But it's a delicate situation. If the king's plan fails, many innocents will be killed. In which case, we might not be in the best mental health to give our girl good answers or advice when we return.

"Well, we talked a little bit about this topic before." She twisted her fingers in painful-looking knots. "Um, it's a difficult one. Are you sure you want to do this now?"

Please let it not be about mating, Wyatt begged in the alpha link.I can't take any more cold showers! I've had three since yesterday afternoon.

I'd be more prepared for it to be about her family, Jay said. She was talking to Quartz about her brothers yesterday.

Cole and Wyatt swore, and Ash grimaced.

With a sigh, I reached over, untangled our girl's fingers, and held her hands.

"Yes. Let's clear it up while we have the time," I told her.

"I don't want you to get mad at me," her voice grew quieter and quieter until it was less than a whisper. "I don't want to have bad feelings between us while you're gone.

"Little flower, no one is going to get mad at you."

As I kissed her forehead, I realized my voice had the audacity to turn into a croon.

Goddess, this girl is turning me soft.

Turning?Garnet snickered.You already are.

"No matter what you want to talk about," I told her, "we won't be mad at you or leave with bad feelings about it. I promise."

"So, um, I— I don't know how to feel about my brothers." She lowered her pretty eyes to where our clasped hands rested on her thighs. "The more I hear Lilah talk about what Luke did to help her and protect her from their alpha, the more upset I am."

She stopped talking, and Ash opened his mouth, but Jay shook his head at him.

She's not done yet. She's just gathering her courage,he explained.

Ash snapped his mouth closed.

"I don't want to—" She hesitated. "I don't want tohateJames and Aiden, but I'm— I'mmadat them. I'mso mad."

Shortly after meeting her, my brothers and I had made some quick decisions. This was one of them, so I knew exactly what to say.

"Posy, if you want to forgive them and build a relationship with them, we'll support you one-hundred percent. If you want to forgive them, but have nothing to do with them, same. If you want to be mad at them or hate them for the rest of your life, same. We will back you on whatever you want to do."
