At least he hadn't tried to blame it all on William, which was his go-to for getting out of trouble.

Small progress, I thought to myself.

"You have to be careful," Evie told them. "You could have hurt Posy. She's not as big as your brothers, and doesn't play as rough as they do."

As Evie fussed at them, I looked over and saw Ash had Posy up in his arms, the cover up draped over her back as she clung to him like a koala. The other boys touched her arms, legs, or face and watched her with concerned eyes.

"What happened to Posy?" Peri came over, wide-eyed with worry.

"The heathens knocked her down," I told her.

"Did she get hurt?"

"Not physically." I looked up at my daughter. Something in her face made me suspicious, so I took a guess. "Her cover up came off."

Peri's hand flew to her mouth.

"Who saw?" she whispered.

"Just us four, and the heathens," I said. "You knew?"

She nodded.

"She's getting better." Peri wiped a tear from her cheek. "Cole and Wyatt swear she is. There's nothing any of them can do for the scars, though. They were made with silver and mercury."

"That'sbetter?" I hissed. "She's nothing but bones!"

"She’s only been with them for three weeks, Daddy. Cole said she's gained seven pounds since they brought her home. The pack doctor told Cole that slow weight gain is best, and not to push her to eat or it could make her sick."

Bile flooded my mouth, and I struggled to control Jet. He wanted to kill the one who hurt his luna, as did I. Knowing my sons already had was our only consolation.

While my daughter and I were whispering, Posy came over and stood in front of our little group, her mates looming behind her like avenging angels.

"Um, are the boys okay?" she asked.

"They're fine." I smiled at her, then raised an eyebrow at my heathens. "Little wolves, I think you have something to say to the luna."

"I'm sorry, luna." William dropped his chin to his chest.

"Sowwy, wuna," Winnie echoed. He blinked his big blue eyes at her and his bottom lip pooched out.

By the moon, that boy could melt a heart of stone!

Posy didnothave a heart of stone. Quite the opposite, in fact. She looked as if she might cry at Winnie's pouty face.

If only she knew how often he uses his cuteness to get out of trouble, I linked Evie, who held back a giggle. What are you laughing about? You're no more immune to it than our new daughter-in-law is.

That madeherpout, and her face looked so similar to our son's that I grinned.

"Oh, babies, it's okay! See? I'm fine!" Posy's eyes showed how frantic she was to cheer them up. "So, um, would you like to get into the pool with me?"

"Swim?" the little guys asked together with brightening faces.

"Yeah! Come on." She held out both hands.

With big grins, each of the boys grabbed one and tugged her toward the steps at the shallow end, closely supervised by five alphas who towered over their luna and probably wouldn't let her out of their sight for the rest of the night.

After they were all in the pool, Evie finally let the tears fall.
