Pushing too hard too fast, I scolded myself.

"Do you want me to get your mates?" I asked gently.

"No. They would just make it more—"

She searched for the right word, and I offered one after a long moment of silence.

"Complicated?"

"Yes. Complicated." She sighed. "Although I have a feeling that they're going to pick up on my feelings any minute and—"

Three thunderous knocks hit my door, making both of us jump.

"Posy! What's wrong, little flower?"

That's Mase.

"Can we come in, sweetness?"

Jay.

"Princess, are you okay?"

Ash.

"Who do I need to kill, cutie? Who upset you?"

Wyatt.

"Honey, are you in there alone or is Peri with you?"

And big brother Cole. Wow. The whole crew.

I rolled my eyes, then traded amused smiles with Posy.

"They each have a pet name for you?"

"Yes. I do, too, but I still need nicknames for Cole and Mason."

"Oh? What do you call—"

"Posy!" Cole half-shouted again, and two more knocks rattled my door.

"Oh, for the love of the moon!" I hissed. Turning toward the door, I yelled, "Stop shouting and leave us alone! We're doing girl stuff that you don't need to know about! And your precious mate is fine!"

"Posy, is that true?" Jay called. "Are you fine?"

"Yes." Her voice quavered as she raised it loud enough for them to hear her. "I am. I just got nervous about something."

"Can you open the door? We need to see you to make sure. Please, baby?"

Mase is begging? My eyes widened incredulously.

Only for his mate, Dove murmured.

"I should settle them down before they break something." Posy stood and went to the door, which she opened a crack. "See? I really am fine. Peri and I— Oh, my gosh! You guys are dripping water everywhere! What did you do, come straight out of the pool?"

"Um, yeah," Ash said, and I could just picture him rubbing the back of his neck. "We were worried about you when we felt your anxiety through the mate bond."
