Without warning, I jumped on him and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Oof!"
"Did I hurt you?" I asked with a smile, knowing I hadn't.
"Course not. Just surprised me."
He gently tugged me so that I sat on his lap facing him with my legs hanging over his. His hands moved to the small of my back and his fingers laced together over my bum.
My eyes widened at this position in front of others, but if he was fine with it, I was, too.
I slipped my hands around his neck to lay comfortably on his chest, and he buried his face in my throat and inhaled.
"Mmm. Cookies," he murmured, his lips brushing my skin.
I giggled.
"Mason?"
"Hmm?"
"I love you."
"I love you, too, little flower."
He raised his head and his eyes flicked to my lips. My heart tried to beat out of my chest.
Is he really going to kiss me in front of everyone? In front of hisfather?
Slowly, so slowly, his head came closer, our breath mingling. Then his soft lips were on mine and the whole world paused.
"Oh, they're so cute!" Mama squealed.
"I can't stand it! Nathan! Nathan, take a picture with your phone!"
Mason smirked against my lips, but I was embarrassed and hid my burning face in his throat. He chuckled softly, set his chin on top of my head, and ran his big hands up and down my back.
Thankfully, Jayden saved me.
"So, Mom and Dad," he said. "I believe you two have something to tell us."
I raised my head and looked at the older couple, curious to know what he knew that none of us did.
"As always, you are too perceptive, son," Dad chuckled.
Mom looked up at Dad, and he nodded. Taking a deep breath, she faced us again with pink cheeks.
"We're having another pup!"
"Yes!" Wyatt shouted as his arms shot up in victory pose. "Now you won't have time or energy to pester us night and day about popping out grand-pups! Good job, Dad. Just keep the little brothers coming for a few more years, okay?"
"Hey, it could be a girl this time," Dad pointed out.
"By the moon, you two are rabbits, not wolves," Cole groaned and shook his head.
Everyone laughed and began to congratulate the couple. Mama, however, went over to Wyatt and bopped him on the back of his head.
"Evie and I still want some grand-pups, so don't think you're getting out of anything!"
